flattening the heatspreader is an overclocking trick. though you need to match it by doing the base of the heat-sink also. an improved contact patch also changes how thermal paste is used. (benchmarking back in the day with lapped surfaces we would just put a single drop of water and no paste at all.)

Looks like a pic of a roughly lapped Intel CPU listed as a 5800x to me.

That's definitely not an AMD CPU.

Plus, it doesn't even look like that good of a sanding job. You can still see the marks from machining it.

Ok, full disclosure, that's just a stock photo from the internet.
The 5800X is in my PC but redoing the thermal paste job is a hassle.

But MY SANDING JOB IS BETTER!!

Fine, I'll go take a photo soon.

I mean if you're going to upcharge $100, the very least you could do is take a picture of the actual CPU.

I wouldn't touch it without before and after temperature readings either. Who am I kidding I wouldn't touch it period.

lol... I like how they had to add "superior to new" so they can try to justify their price.

Its a used processor and sanding it doesnt make any difference. Lul.

You can mock me having used a stock image, but you can't mock the process of sanding a CPU IHS.

Here, the proof you all crave!!

It reflects the [H] logo off my monitor about as well as you'd expect.
If you don't want one that's been sanded, then buy one that's BNIB.

I don't think a blurry reflection shot and a screenshot hiding the individual core temps is going to make you any more enthusiastic supporters than your sleazy car salesman eBay ad did.

That's just the individual core wattage. It's hidden to conserve screenshot space.
If you want more information, just ask.

And sleazy? Of course it's an over-the-top sales description. It's just sanding a CPU.
Either you get it or you don't. It is what it is. If you don't like the price or the item, then don't buy it.

Plenty of us get it. I assume I'm not the only one in here to lap a CPU and corresponding waterblock or similar into compliance but as has already been mentioned most coolers are machined to match the convex nature of most CPU lids these days and if you don't flatten both then you may well have caused yourself, or the buyer, problems if not now then in the future. You don't mention what cooling you are using for those temps, you don't show the individual core temps and you don't show a before and after let alone any real proof of the work done or that the CPU you are holding is the one from the screenshot and the list could go on awhile and you top it off with a sleazy ad.

I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that no one in this thread would have bothered posting if you had made a better ad with some reasonable information because this forum is no stranger to "sanding" CPUs.

How seriously are you taking this?
I'm not some sanded-cpu-salesman. Did you think that this is my professional job or something?
I'm just having a good time. I sanded it for myself quite awhile ago, and now I want to upgrade.

All I can do is put it into my computer to prove that I didn't break it.
Are you expecting an incredibly serious salespitch that makes "liquid isopropanal" sound boring?

Peanut butter to Cheez Whiz.
Or you can do what I do, and put your preferred thermal paste in a cup of boiling water until it's hot.
Then it'll be gooey.

Smooth peanut butter always. I've never tried the light cheese stuff. It'd probably be a little TOO gooey.
I recommend keeping these cheesy, but not too cheesy.

That's why this CPU is confirmed to actually work, despite the cheesy ad.
