Just seems to me that often the second or third refresh of a new chip cycle has included
a 'Midrange' or 'Second Tier' card with double the original amount of RAM- and after the
Doom 3 benches, I thought- "just what I need to fill that AGP slot for the last time".
Anyone have a guess if we might see just such a product before Christmas?

More likely announced before christmas...then maybe available 3 months later.
I believe it will most likely be more dependant on the memory supplyer than the
GPU company.

yeh def...i think the GDDR3 yields are the limiting factor at the mo....once they catch up and refine their process a bit things will look more promising

Doom 3 will be last years game by the time 512mb cards reach shelves. Hell..."where are the 256mb cards" would be a better question. :p

GDDR3 is very difficult to come by, I think at best we will see a 6900U with 512mb of ram by the end of the year, prob not a 512mb 6800GT tho.
