5090 in stock and it looks like it is staying in stock

My local Microcenter was showing 5090s in stock for an hour or so this morning after opening. They also had ~54 5070s before they opened, which went right away even though they only had 5 MSRP cards in stock. Maybe I could have gotten a 5090 if I'd taken the morning off work and hopped in my car as soon as I noticed... but I'm just not going to take time off to go get a $3k Asus ROG Astral. So maybe things are starting to get a wee little bit better if 8 ROG Astral 5090s can last an hour at a Microcenter?

Nice. *huffs hopium*

Once the marked up AIB cards stop flying off the shelves scalpers won't be able to make money on the FEs and actual consumers will be able to buy them.

4090 > 5080. That's proven with the raster testing. Also the 5080 won't do PhysX so if you play older games that demand PhysX for example Batman: Arkham series, your framerate will go to a crawl on the 5080 compared to the 4090.
You can still play them at full speed just like an AMD card does, without the PhysX effects. I find it interesting it was always such a niche feature, but now that it's been removed everyone is saying it was such a huge deal and acting like it was in every old game in existence (the last game to use hardware PhysX was over a decade ago). It's a long dead feature and Nvidia warned people a few years back it would be deprecated.

Was able to pick one up at my local MC and will install this weekend.

I know what brand got all the 5090 dies. that is like the only card I am seeing for sale like ever. I would say you over paid be we ALL know we can get 90+ % of our money back at any time now when ever we want.

Those expensive ass ASUS cards are the only ones I ever see. I've had the chance to buy 2 of those, but I just can't do it. I think it's a combination of there are more of those than the other AIB models and more people simply aren't willing to buy those vs. the others.

It was about $3200 that I paid otd at MC, not $6660. We all know even at the 3200 price is overpaying but I was lucky to walk in and it was the last one they had so I bought it. Tired of online bots and camping out.

I am like you at this point. I don't care... I just need a card at this point. Here I am with like 8 Chrome tabs open and all manner of alerts ready to go, and also have the phone apps for online retailers open... every day is just stress after waiting as long as I have to get a new GPU.

Maybe. NVIDIA also has zero competition from AMD or Intel on the high end. They don't need to bring out a new card to dominate or even extend their lead. Plus, the idea of a 5080Ti or 5090Ti is entirely speculative. We have no evidence they are going to do that. NVIDIA didn't do it with the 40 series.
And even less of a reason to do it this time considering current power requirements and that even a 4090 is faster than anything the competition has.

What's more interesting is why this site still has a physics processing sub forum. A relic from when we had dedicated physx cards, that almost no one bought.

Yep. I'm getting alerts and failing miserably from all 800 sources I have going on.

Feels like Nvidia could probably come up with some type of software wrapper for hardware PhysX if they thought enough people cared. It didn't apply to that many games and they still work without it, so they'll probably never bother at this point. I remember the Batman titles having it. Those have been re-released a pile of times over the years. Is it still a thing with all of the re-releases and GOTY versions and whatnot?

I'm all for making a boneyard and making all the dead subforums subtopics in the boneyard, but I'm not sure what else we would move there other than PhysX. There are some other subforums that could maybe use a little adjustment but aren't boneyard material. For example I think maybe the Steam Deck subforum ought to be renamed to handheld PC gaming or something like that.

Is there someone willing to purchase a GPU at MicroCenter for me and ship it out to me? I can pay $100 as a fee. Please DM. So frustrated not being able to get a 5090 yet.

I would just to get my fat ass out of the house but everything is sold out. 5090's

I think you'll need to sweeten the deal quite a bit to get a 5090.
There were 4 Asus RoG 5090 Astral in stock at the St. Louis Park, MN location this morning - 2 as of now. Thing is, need someone trustworthy locally to buy and ship to me. Easier said than done.

Sigh...🙄

Don't get too frustrated... we all wish there was a Micro Center near us. lol

The only way you are going to get one at Microcenter is to be first in line at the store when they open. I'm not camping in front of a retail store for myself, much less anyone else.

At a certain point camping = way less of a waste of time than F5'ing for months on end, watching tickers, paying for special trackers, complaining on forums, etc. etc.

Rubbing it in a little, no?
Rubbing it in would be to tell you I got it for $2,100 but I'm not gonna do that because I don't want to hurt feels! I randomly walked into microcenter and of course they were out of stock, but a pissed off chick was trying to return this without a receipt because her boyfriend spent rent money to buy it....I asked her what rent was and she said 2k....I flashed 2.1k and she snatched the money and shoved the gpu into my chest and stormed off in a huff!

lmao. That's an amazing story. Saw something similar on eBay. "Selling this 5080 because wife didn't approve. I'd like for her to stick around."

You were just casually carrying 2100 USD on you? And neither he nor she just thought of reselling it for more than twice as much on Ebay? Even 3000 would have probably sold out in a flash seeing how dumb desperate people are.

I had 3k on me..and the jokes on her as I spent my rent money to buy it too 😆

My theory was if I lucked out on a 5090 I could make most of my money back selling 4090 and thus paying rent!

I'm sure her BF had designs to scalp and I'm sure she had no idea of market value....right place right time!

I hope you still have any warranty on it and it doesn't have missing ROPs...

But yes you could definitely sell it if you wanted to.

I don't know, that could be the copium talking

Epic. Right place, right time

You mean spending 24/7 for some indefinite set of days, sitting in a tent, incredibly grimy, outside of a random Microcenter, vs just staying at home and pressing some buttons on devices (or better yet, creating web automation scripts that do it for you, which isn't hard with Selenium)?

Uh... yeah... I dunno about that dude.
