Been looking for some discount for the 290. I got the his 290 for 385 shipped plus it comes with bf4. The xfx also comes with bf4 for the same price.

I sold my 2 x 7950 and bought the 290. Will crossfire later when I feel the power is needed.

Use promo code NEWEGGBLKFRI5C

It doesn't stack with other promotions.

So it works on cards with "free games"?

Nope. Just tried on the ASUS GTX 670 Mini w/free AC4 & Splinter Cell and got the usual error..

The promo code NEWEGGBLKFRI5C cannot be combined with combo deals or gift items attached to products.

I don't need any free games.. I'm too busy losing on "Newegg VII: Promo Redemption" :D

Just a tip...

The promo code DOES NOT work with any video cards that come with a game(s) bundled in, open box items, and any other items that come with free gifts. I think the reason that it works with those 2 particular R290s is because you have to register on their respective manufacturer's websites to get BF4, so it's not a video card + free game "bundle"... at least that's the case for the XFX card.

Saw this else where, but got my 290 xfx on order along with my BF4 Code. Not a bad deal.

damn - i just ordered (and received) my XFX 290 last week. Didn't have to pay tax, and sold off the BF4 code that came with it, an extra 20 off would have made it a smoking deal (349 after you factor in the sale of BF4)

10% off if you check out with their mobile site and this promo code:

MBLNOV24

Ordered an MSI 7870 Ghz for $143 shipped, plus a $30 rebate for $113 total.

I'm debating on the XFX 290 as well, but I'd want to remove the cooler and put an aftermarket one on (selling BF4 will help towards the cost)

The XFX warranty doesn't specifically say that removing/installing aftermarket stuff voids the warranty I don't think, though it does mention that you should ask/verify it with them first.

Does HIS allow removal of the cooler within warranty?

Gelid Icy Vision is compatible for $55, can use the 10% off coupon on it too - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835426026. Have read some reviews and it seems to lower noise and temps stay under 70c, which is impressive. Cost wise, after the coupon and selling BF4 (I already have it), should be right back around $400 out of pocket, so you are essentially getting a better cooling solution for the same price. Not bad for those who don't want to wait for the aftermarket 290s.

EDIT: There's screw covers on the XFX backplate for the 290 stating "void if removed," however the HIS card backplate doesn't seem to have them. Their warranty also "recommends" against it, but doesn't specifically say if it voids warranty or not -

"We regret to inform you that we do not suggest users to replace or install the cooler/fan themselves, as it would damage the ASIC / graphic card and void the warranty. We could not supply the individual cooler/fan"

Anyone know if there is a sticker somewhere on the HIS that may rip if removing the cooler?

I dont want to burst anyone's bubble, but even with the 5% off, Amazon's prices are either the same or a couple dollars more. You get a better return policy and sometimes faster shipping.

If you're in WA you gotta pony up $40 to the state though if you purchase from amazon.

Can't use any of these codes for Nvidia cards due to that retarded ass bundle that you have to use yet another 3rd party program to run the free games you get. You can't remove the bundle either. Fuck you Newegg.

If you live in the United States you can remove the cooler on the XFX card with no problems.

But with Amazon (at least in TX), you get taxed, which isn't the case w/ Newegg. ;)

Yup Amazon collects tax in CA now, Newegg is cheaper for me and I get next day shipping for free by living in SoCal.
