Now that real 60hz 4K DP 1.2 KVM's are a thing, I'm thinking about picking up a small 4K television to hold me over until the holy grail comes along. (The holy grail is 40" to 45" 4K non-IPS monitor with HDR FALD GSYNC/Freesync and > 100hz.)
The setup would be
Getting even crazier, what about using a HDMI source through the DP KVM?
SOURCE -> active HDMI to DP converter -> DP KVM -> active DP to HDMI converter -> TV
I have zero experience with DP or active converters. What are the odds this would work? Would HDCP be preserved?
The setup would be
- multiple PC's connected to 4K Displayport 1.2 KVM
- KVM to HDMI via active DP-to-HDMI 2.0 adapter
- HDMI 2.0 from adapter to 4K television
- TV would be Sony X800D, Sony X800E, Samsung MU6300 or similar
