4K 60Hz 4:4:4 HDMI 2.0 TV Database

4:4:4/4K/60Hz is broken on Samsung sets with the T-NT14 chipset. No real way of telling what chipset you get before buying, unfortunately. So make sure to buy from somewhere with a hassle-free return policy.

I bought it and returned it, could get it to work at 4:4:4.

When I set the mode to Movie, sharpness to 80 or more and brightness to 100, and use the linked test, blue and red color was sharp and readable at 100%.

When I tried dynamic mode and other modes, set sharpness to 80-100 and brightness to 100, blue was very blurry, but red could still be readable cuz it was just a bit blurry and not so bad as blue color.

So I have no other option than waiting several weeks again for a new Philips monitor. I'm not gonna get another TV.

Looking for some help in validating that I am testing/validating if my new Samsung 4K T will do 4:4:4.

Model # UN55HU8500FXZA (bought at Costco)
Current version: 2190
Video card: MSI GTX 980
Cable: Monoprice 6' 18Gbps HDMI cable http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=102&cp_id=10255&cs_id=1025508&p_id=10765&seq=1&format=2

I have set both HDMI 2 and HDMI3 up on the Samsung for HDMI UHD Color

When I select the native resolution in the nVidia control panel under PC (3840x2160 - 60Hz at 32-bit color) I don't get output on the screen - the Samsung says to check the cable or connection.

I have tried 2 different cables - both of them are the Monoprice Redmere 18Gbps - the one at 6' and another at 15'.

I don't think my Samsung is one of the lucky few that will do 4K 60hz 4:4:4. If I missed something please let me know.

Thanks!

Are there any 40'' 4k TVs supporting 60fps over HDMI? Anything larger is unweildy for a monitor replacement.

Philips has announced 40" 4K Monitor (yes monitor, not TV). Philips BDM4065UC has Display Port and mini DP, therefore there won't be any need for HDMI. Display Port means 4K @60 Hz 4:4:4 using SST.
.
Philips BDM4065UC also has an HDMI port, but it only supports 4K at 30 Hz.

Here's some links about Philips BDM4065UC:

A couple of us in the thread already have it. Pretty awesome monitor.

I believe some MSI GTX970/GTX980 cards are not HDMI2.0 supported.

I currently have a MSI GTX 970 card and it does support HDMI 2.0, using it hooked up to my 4K TV and outputting 4:4:4 at 60Hz 2160p, MSI just made an error on their website stating it still uses HDMI 1.4a, they already fixed it.

Thanks for the info! I'm pretty sure it's the TV that is the issue. Not really a big deal - Costco has a great return policy.

I haven't read the entire thread and I typically read everything before posting as a protocol but in this case I just wanted to add some basic information.

I recently purchased a Samsung UN55HU6840 55" 4K UTV model from Microcenter for $899 on Black Friday. I liked it a lot but some issues with it resulted in my returning it. This could have been a result of a firmware update that didn't go well but it started displaying a black screen with audio cutting out intermittently. There was also some uniformity issues with the screen most obvious in dark scenes.

I was going to get another Samsung UN55HU6840 but went with an LG UB8500 55" model instead. IMO the screen is much better then the Samsung UN55HU6840 with respect to uniformity. Its not perfect though. Since I have my smart TV wall mounted it is well above the head of the viewer. When viewing from such an angle there the top left and right corner are slightly dimmer then the rest of the screen. this effect almost disappears completely if the screen is about eye level with the viewer (or below) so its not necessarily something I would call a defect.

While watching a video review of the LG UB8500 on youtube I was able to detect the same slight dimming in the corners of the review set so I am almost certain that many if not all owners of these LG models would see the same effect.

My 65in panasonic ax800 works awesome for 3840x2160 60hz gaming over displayport mst 444 from two 7970ghz cards in crossfire.

I'm strongly considering the LG UB8500 as it's on a smokin deal right now at Microcenter ($900 for the 55", $800 for the 49"). I've got a pair of 970s arriving on Monday that I know are HDMI 2.0 compatible. Is there anything else that might prevent me from getting this setup to work correctly in 4:4:4 UHD@60hz mode?

Also, can you comment on the input lag on the UB8500? How about the color and any built in color correction features? Thanks

Just picked up a 49UB8500 and I'm having some trouble. The screen flickers green when I load games in fullscreen sometimes, even at native res. This just happened on the Witcher 2 and I can't seem to fix it. Desktop looks fine, and when I disable fullscreen it seems to run fine too. I'm using HDMI 3 and have set the input to PC and game mode.

Picked up a 55UB8500 from microcenter today. Will do some thorough testing tomorrow night. Hopefully it works fine with no issues. Like some other people I have noticed dimming but mine is bottom edge and not the corners. Not really a big issue though, its very slight.

Chroma 444 should be working correctly out of box with included high-speed hdmi cable to hdmi port #3. Seeing that the LG uses an IPS panel colors were great, pretty close to calibrated specs, but a little over saturated. Gorgeous colors with great pop and depth. Native 4k youtube vids were just jaw-dropping. Input lag was a little on the high side for my taste, even in game mode. Definitely not good for those fast twitch competitive shooters. Great for normal paced games. Its a gorgeous TV, but not the best monitor for me. I sit to close to my monitor on my desk so 49inch was too big. You need to be a minimum of 3-4 feet away to use it comfortably. I had to return mine. Hoping to get a 40inch curved model in the near future.

Ran it with an EVGA 970.

This is what im worried about most. Some TV's i can deal with (35MS vizio is A-OK with me, but my 60 inch Sharp (58MS) is un-usable).

Does anyone have a page with legitimate numbers for this panel?

Is it realistic to expect issues with the 4:4:4, input lag, etc. for PC usage will be thing of the past in the coming 2015 4K TV models?

I got mine yesterday and fired it up with my current 780 SLI setup (the 970s are due today by COB). It ran OK, making allowances for the 4:2:0 chroma, but I had some real issues running certain games in fullscreen, even at native res/refresh rate. The Witcher 2, Unigine Heaven, Diablo 3, and a handful of others gave me a flickering green mess when I ran them in fullscreen. Switching to windowed cleared it right up and games ran fine.

I'm doubtful that the 970s will correct this issue, but unless they do this monitor has to go back. I also found that it was very unforgiving of any resolution other than native UHD or fullHD (1080p), which is bad news for me. I was hoping I could run games at 3440x1440 if UHD is too demanding. The ultra wide aspect is nice for FOV. I'm currently trying to figure out how I can do this using my video cards to do the scaling.

I hear what you're saying with the size. I definitely found it bigger than ideal, and would prefer something in the 40-42" range. Although, if I wall mount the 49" LG and tilt it down a bit so I'm looking at at a better angle, it might work ok. Another negative aspect is that the panel itself inside the glass/plastic is actually curved *away* from you at the edges. It makes it look like the last few pixels are actually off the edge and the panel is overscanning. If you move to look at the edge dead on, however, you see them just fine. They just "disappear" around the curvature at the edge. Hard to explain.

There was a page linked over at AVSforum that listed the LG at 64ms. I didn't check to see if the others were on there.

I didn't personally notice significant input lag on the LG, but I'm not overly sensitive to it.

To my knowledge, Panasonic AX800/AX802 (same model, name depends on the geographical region) has the lowest input lag among 2014 4K TV models. According to hdtvtest.co.uk Panasonic AX800/AX802 input lag is 37 ms.

Panasonic AX800/AX802 also has both HDMI 2.0 and Display Port 1.2. Both connections were tested by people and are reported to work fine in 4K 60 Hz 4:4:4 chroma.

Currently Panasonic AX800/AX802 seems to be one of the best 4K TVs to be used as PC monitor.

Problem is that the smallest size these come in is 50", which is probably bigger than what most people would find acceptable.

Also, they cost a pretty penny..

lol, 50" would be the absolute minimum 4K screen I would go for.
I'm waiting for a projector unless I find a blinding deal on a good oled.

I mean for a monitor, I don't think sitting in front of a 50" would be terribly fun at 1.5ft

Solution is quite easy, site at 2ft.
Whatever you find works best.

I'd wait a few more months before buying a 4K TV at this point. The best deals usually come around January and Feb.

Sitting at 50" 4K shouldn't differ much to sitting near common four fullhd monitors. And i also would prefer 4K starting with 50". 40" i might somewhat live with, but it doesn't seem best variant. And definite NO to 32"-28"-24" 4K monitors.

Just purchased the LG 49UB8500. Will be picking it up today after work. Going to RMA my 34um95, was just to much money to spend with the dead pixels and back light bleeding issues. I came from an old 1080p 38inch Westinghouse and the size of the UM95 just did not give me the wow factor that I was expecting. I said screw it and went for the 49 with wall mount and hope it lasts me 10 years like the westinghouse did.

I have a pair of SLI 970 cards coming tonight as well, so hopefully I will be able to hook it up and get the 4:4:4 60hz.

Wish me luck as I have some cash $$ in this investment now!

TV manufacturers need to understand that tv isn't what it used to be. Most people are using it as a large display for many type of usage instead of the outdated traditional viewing of tv shows and movies. Hence the death of plasma tech. We wanna do more with "televisions." 4:4:4 and loe input lag needs to become a mainstream standard.

I think you'll be very happy with it. I also have the 34UM95 and I've decided to keep it to couple with my LG UHDTV to game at lower resolutions. I do feel the monitor holds up very well as a PC display, but there are certainly a handful of quirks that you need to acknowledge in order to get along with it:

1. It's never going to handle standby like a true monitor should. It shuts off, and doesn't come back on when you move the mouse. When it does, your windows are resized (like the 34UM95 using DP).

2. It's pretty much native res, 1080p, and nothing in between. I was really hoping it would handle a 3440x1440 res with letter and pillarboxing, but no.

3. There is a "super resolution" feature on the tv that is basically impossible to kill without a workaround, even when disabled in settings. The workaround is simple though - i just switch to the Live TV input and back to HDMI 3 and everything is the way it's supposed to be. When it's bad, text is horribly aliased and garbled looking. I'm sure you'll know it when you see it.

4. I notice a distinct "screen door" effect with this monitor. I'm not sure why it is, but it's very noticeable, even from about 3-4', which is where I view.

Overall though, it's a completely gorgeous panel and I'm appreciating the non-PC monitor features too (I particularly like the built in amazon prime streaming UHD content).

You see a screen door effect Neon? Indicating that you can see pixel structures. That doesn't sound right. I never seen that in games as long as the game rendered in a true 4k res as there are quicks sometimes and the res is not correct.

I too was wishing for a correctly displayed 3440x1440 aspect. Does anyone know if any 4k TVs can display that correctly?

It's probably not actually SDE, but I definitely see a rectilinear crosshatched pattern on solid continuous backgrounds. It's not really noticeable in games, but I see it quite readily in Windows desktop.

As for 3440x1440, any display that truly does 1:1 pixel mapping will do it. I believe the Acer B326HK will. This monitor claims to support 1:1 pixel mapping, but they really just mean that they're not applying any kind of built in overscan.

Well im pretty sure i've got everything up on and running on the lg 49ub8500, everything looks nice and crisp and I seem to be running at 4:4:4 @ 60hz. was trying to test out dota 2 on this thing but the scaling is all messed up lol, I will say though that the few games I've gotten to work look amazing!

Update: I got everything tweaked properly and the screen look great. Couple of little quirks but overall everything look awesome. Updated all the firmware etc etc. I have not had any issues after the last update with regards to the no signal when turning the screen back on. I had the signal cut out on me once while starting civ V but it came back and worked fine after I alt tab'd. I've been running this so far on one gtx 970. I will sli the other 970 tonight.

Just a quick reply. I have the 49UB8500, the 55UB8500 and the Samsung 40" 6950. The LG works and the Sammy doesn't, long story short. The Sammy is more picky about the cable and doesn't include a cable either.

I purchased three of the 55" three of the 49" LG's and they are all awesome. Also, I had a dead pixel on the Samsung and have noticed none on any of the LG sets.

LG is definitely doing good stuff for HDMI 2.0 for computer use.

Did you go through them one by one (try, return) or do you concurrently have them all as your grammar suggests? If so, what on earth do you need so many huge monitors for?

:eek::eek::eek:

I was thinking about picking up a 55" version for my basement rec room in addition to my PC monitor since they're so good, but damn! Seven of them!

Are you planning to do 4k surround/eyefinity?

If so pics, or it didnt happen!!! ;)
