4870X2 runs at 750MHz when windows loads

Anyone notice that despite what the CCC says, the GPU clock runs at 750MHz when Vista64 loads and will only go down to 507MHz after a 3D game/display has been played? It's kinda annoying because the temperature difference is about 10 celsius.

Mine is at 750 also in Vista idle mode.

My 4870's do the same thing. I don't think there is a way to disable that either.

same thing happens for me and the temp difference is 20C

You have to unlock ATI Overdrive and uncheck the enable ATI Overdrive box in CCC. This lets the card downclock itself at idle because I guess with 8.9 that box is not unchecked by default.

this has been a feature since 8.7 i regularly submit to the CCC feedback, which apparently doesn't get read.
