Heres my specs

p5w dh deluxe
e6600 (OC 3ghz)
4gb ddr2 pc 6400
enermax 620w psu

Does the 4870x2 need pci-e 2.0?

From wikipeida:
"PCIe 2.0 is backward compatible with PCIe v1.x. Graphic cards and motherboards designed for v2.0 will be able to work with v1.1 and v1.0. In some cases it is possible that a PCI-E 2.0 card will not work correctly on a PCI-E 1.0a slot. This is only limited to certain video cards."

Lastly would my cpu be bottle necking the card at all?

CPU might bottleneck it. I have mine OCed to 3.2, supposedly 3.4 or 3.6 is the sweet spot but don't quote me on that xD. I doubt the PCI-E would bottleneck it for now....maybe if you had super high AA etc. what res you gaming at?

My e6420 @ 3.2 bottlenecks my X2. Then again, 3.4 doesn't seem to make any difference (using Crysis and Warhead benchmark).

I also have a PCI-E 1.1 mobo, FWIW.

Im gaming at 1680x1050. And so it seems that my processor may or may not bottleneck it depending on the OC. And yeah ive heard that the sweet spot is 3.4-3.6 but i cant seem to get mine over the 3ghz hump even with zalman cooling. The chip seems to need a ton of vcore for anything over 3ghz

I wouldn't consider it a bottle neck, but Crossfire does scale very well with CPU speeds.

PCIe1.0 won't bottle neck it either as long as its running full time in 16x mode.

Here are my specs:

QX9650 @4.5 GHZ
4 gigs 9600
Four 150 Gig Raptors
SilverStone 1000W PS.
(Formerly) 2 8800 GTX's

I just bought an over clocked Diamond 4870X2. Is there even going to be a bottleneck???

no, if you are gaming @ 1920 x 1200/2560x1600, the gpu becomes the bottle neck.

honestly you will only see the cpu "bottleneck" in benchmarks, where as a 1-3 fps increase in "real" game play

fyi, I played games @ stock clocks on my 9450 and OC @ 3.4 and didn't see / experience any differences that I could discern

If AA is being handled completely on the card, I fail to see how the extra PCIe badwidth would bottle neck it in the slighttest.
