What the topic states... with 4830's @ $80 bucks (check [H]ot deals section) was thinking this would be a good way to go with my current system. (see sig)

I think it would run faster than a single 4870 1GB card (1280 SP vs 800 SP) even given the lower memory and XF penalty.

Pros/Cons?

I'd like to hear them. Thx.

There was an article showing CF 4830 vs a 1GB 4870 and the crossfire setup was way faster as far as framerates go.

I had 4830 cf setup. and when benched against my 4870 1gb, the overall fps average and max was higher. BUT, the min was much lower at times. 3 fps vs 32 fps. That is where you will notice a problem....

i usually go for a single card setup myself instead of multicard setup. less problems/headaches. plus more memory is always a good thing. when i upgraded to my GTX 260 216 from a 512MB 4870 overall fps did get a little boost but the major thing was that Crysis did run a lot smoother. crysis is kinda the extreme example tho, since no other game right now (maybe STALKER) comes close to how big of a hardware hog it is.
