That's weird, I called them again and they said my $199.99 was approved they just haven't processed it yet because they are getting through all the orders made over the weekend. On my online order it said to give them a call though.

I have been waiting weeks for MC just to get 4770k's in stock....Nice they put the processor on sale when it's still out of stock for weeks now....It's getting frustrated trying to get a deal on a 4770k....Tempted to just pay double and get the thing I I can boot up the new computer.

Is there a full advertisement I can print out to see if Frys will pricematch? I don't think Fry's will price match if I show them the link that says Out of Stock.

The update said price match not approved and asked me to call the 800 number. I called and the best the could do was the normal $249 price. Closest MC to me is 2 hours so I'll not be driving out lol. Ended up asking them to cancel.... not paying $250 for a 3570K.
 
I just had a 4770k not approved for $199 and called and they told me they wouldn't PM MC. I'm pretty close to a MC (~40 miles), so I'll just head over tomorrow.
 
Got a good one this time!
It can do 4.6GHz @ 1.205v no problems. My previous 4770k barely got up to 4.3GHz @ 1.233v. Both can run the RAM at 2400MHz.
I'm gonna try to up the RAM some more with this new chip!

Current batch is L316B
Previous batch is L314A
 
Went to Fry's. Frys does not price match with Micro Center. They said because they don't deliver, but they could do $338 like amazon lol. I just walked out.

Micro Center is 1 hour from my house, but they are OOS, and have been for weeks. I have been trying to get one for $279...

No problem they were only a mile from my work. Trying through NCIX now just because it's easy enough to do. I'll probably have to wait to buy something next week during BF or Cyber Monday.

Hey if they don't want to price match they won't be getting my money, it's not like I'm going to be like "well ok I'll get it anyways", not when MC normal price is 279 ($50 cheaper) and they will eventually get them back in stock... Pretty simple. I just thought it was kind of funny they would not price match micro center because they "do not ship" when frys does not ship either. But they were more than happy to price match amazon. Their excuse last time was that they only price match retail stores, not online vendors "amazon". I have never been able to get a price match at Frys for one reason or another. They should just advertise it properly, "We will selectively guarantee price match, only with select stores".

Got Frys to price match a 4670K for $200 a month or so back (Microcenter sale price). Took a bit of time and they did get confused... otherwise they were not doing to do it.

Nice, there was no arguing with these guys, they told me absolutely not. I never even gave them the Microcenter price, even it it was $5 off they wouldn't do it. Like I said I have NEVER been able to get fry's to price match. They always have an excuse "that's online only, we only price match retail" "That's retail only so we won't price match that either".

Just waiting for my NCIX Cancellation order now.

For Frys it essentially must be:

- Matched to the shipped cost.
- Must be in stock online.
- If in store, must be a store within a certain distance (I think 20 miles?).
- Some other hoops I can not recall

So if a Microcenter is far away and does not have a sale when bought online, the in store price is irrelevant. Sometimes they use the excuse "that is too much" as well. Worth a try, but don't bet on anything to be price matched with any store, Walmart included.

So Maybe if I find a Frys near Microcenter then? Not sure it's worth the hour drive to find out (hour each way)... I'd just assume to get it at MC if only it was in stock...
 
Just 'chatted up' a MC representative and they said I can bring my receipt in for the 4770k I bought three weeks ago for $280 and they will credit me the $80. Gota love MC
 
What's the best deal as far as motherboards go to combo with this thing?
 
Don't forget your free copy of final fantasy 14! Comes with either processor I believe. I got one so all should.

Batch L316B for mine. Haven't OCd yet.

If you don't plan to go SLI or CF, I would say the ASrock Extreme 4 is probably the most solid featured board and it is only $90 after the $30 combo deal, bringing it to $290+tax out the door.

If you do plan to SLI or CF, the board arrangement and PCIe lanes make it less than ideal, as it goes to x8/x4/x4 vs. other boards (Asus, Gigabyte) that will do x8/x8 via CPU and the 3rd slot is x4 via PCH.

Yep totally agree, even if Haswell doesn't OC quite as well, it has better IPC than SB and IVB, but the real benefit is the updated Z87 platform. 6xSATA3/6G is a huge benefit for SSD users and PCIe 3.0 is nice as well for newer graphics cards.

At $200 I agree it's better to go with the 4770K with HT, as it is important for encoding/transcoding and more games are making use of the extra threads.
 
The Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H a decent low budget mb that supports xfire/SLI and has great vrm components for over clocking. Great value.

You will get a lot of various answers on this question. I went with the Asus Hero because I want to OC and I wanted good quality components and crossfire support.

I went with Asus Sabertooth Z87 for the 5 year warranty. Also the EVGA Supernova G2 1000W for a whopping 10 year warranty :eek:
 
Wow, going to return my i5 4670k tomorrow which I got for 199.99 at MC and get this, glad I am still within the return policy.

Yea, I'm thinking I might just keep my 2500K Z68 and upgrade to a 3770K when they are <$150 to take advantage of HT and PCIE 3.0. Should probably be able to stretch until 2015.
 
A stupid cheap price, that is what I paid for my i5-4570 a few months ago. Sadly I do not have a MC anywhere near me or I'd go for it and sell the i5 I am using now.
