Hi, I'm in the market for a new monitor. I will be buying around christmas, so my choice may fluctuate a bit.

I am wanting to spend about 500 dollars or less on a monitor. I use photoshop for my AP graphics class, but as long as the colors are close, they don't have to be perfect since it's not proffesional graphics. I also do a lot of gaming on my xbox 360 and pc. In a few months I am wanting to buy an hdtv tuner card, so I'll be watching television on it aswell. (the only hdtv we'd have in the house.) Bigger is better, but anything will be huge compared to my 15" crt.

The two I've looked at so far are these two.

SAMSUNG ToC T240HD Rose-Black 24"

Hanns·G HG-281DPB Black 28"

I would prefer the 28", but i've never heard of Hanns-G, but the 450 or so reviews say its a pretty good monitor.

The 24" samsung has a built-in tv tuner so I can move the monitor around and watch HD television, which is a huge plus since my 360 and monitor go tons of places currently.

Any suggestions would be a huge help. Also, I'm not against changing my options in the least. That's why I'm on [H]

For all-around gaming/pshop/general usage, I like the Westinghouse L2410NM, it's a 1900x1200 S-MVA panel 24" matte monitor. The better color reproduction will help with Photoshop and the built-in HDMI/S-Video/YPbPr ports are useful for Xbox 360 play/HDTV & standard TV usage. You can find 'em for a range of $250-500 online. The E2400HD is quite nice, though.

HP LP2475W can be had for $500 after cash back, but you need to pay $600 up front.

I can't afford the HP, but the e2400hd looks good, ill check both out later today.

any particular reason why i shouldn't buy from newegg? They've been great with my rma with my crucial ram a few months back.

8 pixels, not too great. Is there a better place with a good return policy? I think i read something about sams club, i have one about a mile from my house. Would amazon be a good place?

Sam's Club has a great return policy, 100% guarantee on merchandise. Amazon's not as generous, but still decent, better than Newegg from what I hear.

Sams Club or Costco. Why? I returned monitors from both of these guys. LoL. Plus, you can refund for 90 day on the LCD display. That's pretty good considering that you can mess with your lcd for 3 months and when you notice something you don't like, refund that thing hehe. You can also order online and return the item to the store as though you bought it in store.

sounds good, ill ask at the store if they have an e2400hd since they don't on their website.

i ended up getting the samsung syncmaster 2433bw from sams club. they said I could return it at any time, so i figured it was worth the try to buy the monitor. So far I love it.

The only problem with it is that i can hear metal rattling around on the inside when I move it, so i'll probably go trade it in for a new one sometime this week.

How do you like it, FMunkey? Please post so more info. Like PQ, etc. if you don't mind. Thank you! Also, could you post a few pics, please? Thanks!

FMunkey, see if you can have Costco price match that LCD with Best Buy. Best Buy has this same monitor on sale for $330 right now in this weeks Best Buy ad.
