FWIW, I purchased two of these from Fry's last time they were on sale. Those turned out to be 7200.10 (perpendicular recording) units.

damn,

I just bought that 500GB Maxtor from Fry's last week... I think I'll hold out on these...

the 59.99 deal ended for both sata and ide versions those drives deals turned out to be all 10's units

Can anyone confirm that the ones sold online are also 7200.10s as well? There are no Fry's in the east coast for me to check instore!

Pictures?
According to model number listed on Fry's website, it is the 7200.9 model.

Ive ordered a total of eight of these 400GB Seagate drives from Frys since October 7200.10 is clearly on the label of ever one of my eight. They were all listed as 7200.9 model on Fry's website.Dont take that as any gurantee you will get 7200.10's but that is what i got.

So you should definitely put YMMV.
There is no proof that Fry's will ship 7200.10 now when they have listed 7200.9 for sale.

Uh...it's always been listed as 7200.9s, it's Seagate that has swapped them internally for 7200.10s. Fry's doesn't swap anything.
