Thanks, Cornelius.

Will do too.

You p4 looks to be kickin some serious azz too.

Nice upgrade!
:)

Well just like you, I don't quite have all the stuff in my sig yet. The OCZ PC4000EL is gonna be getting here within a week.....I just had to update my sig early so it didn't look so pathetic.

Wait a second, zepplin you got 24k on a duron processor? Is this a joke or is it a mess up in hardware detection or are you honestly overclocking a 2ghz duron or something?

2001se will pick up an A64 in dx8.1 as a "duron."

DX8.1 yields higher 3dmarks in 2001se build 330 then dx9.0 or 9.0b will.

That score I posted was a friend's rig, Amd Fanatic.

My A64 & Albatron K8x800 Pro II don't arrive until Tuesday from Newegg. I doubt I can hit 24k but I DO EXPECT 23k easy. He has an A64 3400, I will be running the A64 3000.

His 11 multiplier will help him as my multiplier will be only 10. Both the Via & NForce 3 lack an agp/pci lock. The nforce 3's can lock the agp only but their hypertransport down is crippled at 1200 Mhz, up is full 1600 Mhz.

Via has 1600 Mhz upstream AND downstream.

Cornelius

It won't matter because the HyperTransport bus is rarely populated anyway. After all it's only for I/O components. The nForce3 150 is better in my opinion since an AGP lock is very useful if you can stick with onboard sound. That's why most of the insane overclocks on the A64 3000+ come on the Shuttle A05NR nForce3 150.

And about the contest on memory...Look at my sig! Geil Golden Dragon PC3500 that only does up to 182mhz on CAS2 even with 2.8V Vdimm! *PUFFS OUT CHEST* Beat that!

My Hyper X pc-3500 (bh-5) only hits 204 fsb on this POS Epox 8rda+. Its 10 months old & past its prime, until Tuesday my best score on 3dmark is 18,950. Using an Xp2100 "B" the 1.58 vdd limitation on the rev 1.1 Epox 8rda+ holds my FSB back big time.

Amd Fanatic is also using Hyper X pc-3500 (bh-5) ram on his A64.
If I don't hit a minimum of 23,000 on 3dmark I will buy the Shuttle too.

You're talking about buying the shuttle mini case or the full size shuttle board?

Are AMD 64's getting high 3dmark01 scores ? In comparison to say a 2.8ghz @ 3.6ghz ?

Are AMD 64's overclocking any better than when I last read the Abit K800 motherboard review on hardocp?

Shuttle AN50 nforce 3 motherboard for A64

Shuttle case? WTF?

Only use Lian Li or Coolermaster cases myself.

They beat a p4 by a considerable margin. OPPAINTER hit 30K on 3dmark2001se build 330 in a volt modded Shuttle AN50.

My friend has had his Shuutle board for two days only & hes almost at 25K UNMODDED.

He gave his 2.8 p4 @ 3.55 Ghz to his wife. I kid u not. We post here a lot:

Cool, this'll be me in 1 week:

- Intel Pentium 4 2.6C @ 3.42GHz
- Zalman CNPS7000-ALCU
- Asus P4C800-E DLX
- 2 x 512MB OCZ PC4000EL @ 524MHz 3-4-4-8
- Maxtor 80GB 7200RPM SATA
- BBA Radeon 9800XT 256MB @ 430/800
- Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2
- Vantec Spectrum Fan Card
- YY-0221 Cube Server Case
- LG 52x24x52/16x CD-RW/DVD-Rom Combo Drive
- Antec 430W Truepower PSU
- Logitech Z-560 4.1 Speakers
- Everything in the entire case sleeved black /w blue heatshrink

Some guy at ocforums with a Shuttle board and an oc'd 9800 Pro got his A64 3000+ @ 2.4gHz and got nearly 24k in 3dMark01. It's amazing people are getting such good overclocks from a board that only goes up to 1.7V Vcore unmodded :)

:D

I used to look at hardware that way.....then I started getting lazy and realised that it wasn't worth the extra work/hassle of waiting a second time around, even though the other one worked.

whatever, maybe I'm just weird but I'm also very impatient.....a very bad combination of attributes when I'm constantly wanting new shit for my computer.

Even NOW isn't fast enough anymore. ;)

I've been outta the hardcore benchmarking scene for almost three years.

Nowadays guys voltmod their vid cards & motherboards, use dry ice, pelts & vapo chills & waterblocks.

I won't do any of that extreme stuff, I just get all I can outta the hardware in front of me (without modification).

Guess Im tryin to say Im old school, an overclockin "purist."

But I want a fast rig for another year, this will be enough (I hope)

I wouldn't worry about that if you're only gonna hold yourself back for a year.....it's when people say they want their computer to last 5 years that I start to cringe.

The insanity never ends....

I've also gone through way to many system revamps and about 7 cases in the last 2 years or so. :D

If I was still unattached I'd really go crazy on the hardware, lol.

My livein gf does get pissed at me, she asks why do I need a newer pc all the time?

I never have a good answer though....
:p

Tell her that newer pc's generate more heat, saves you guys more money on the heating bill.
