I had this monitor and it was really good. I loved having it. The only reason I returned it was because AOC had really shitty customer service. I bought mine for $800 at the time, I got it in the mail, and the power supply was defective. I know it was because I used a Dell laptop power supply with it and it worked fine with that. I called AOC and they wouldn't ship it to me without having me pay for shipping and the cost of the power supply. I told the rep that I literally just took it out of the box though. They didn't care. I said, well you lost me as a customer forever that you can't even just send me a new power supply for my brand new monitor.

Other than that experience OP and after ordering the Acer Predator and this one... this one was the better of the two. The VA panels have the least amount of compromise. The light-bleed of every IPS panel I tried in this size and curvature was horrendous. People kept telling me to just keep replacing it until I get a good one. Well I wasn't about to do that. So I would say definitely get that monitor because it's a great price for a great monitor. Just hope you don't have to deal with their customer care.
 
im on the fence. i have 2 asus vg248qe's that this would be replacing. the asus are both 144hz 1ms response time but no g-sync. I bought both monitors on sale at $170 so its not as big of a loss and could probably sell them for 100$ each to some buds of mine. Is it worth the upgrade or will I miss having the second screen for firefox and what not while gaming on the main screen?

You're really going to like it. I honestly really wanted to keep the monitor and I could have just kept using the Dell laptop power supply, but I just couldn't get myself to keep it after my customer service experience. Other than that the monitor was fantastic.

You did the right thing. I would have done the same just on principle. I hate this level of BS customer support.

Wow tempting! Looks like a great deal and while 4K is great I do miss Gsync and high refresh on my Swift!

Anyone know of a good actuating tv arm for a 43” tv?
 
Sold out/price mistake? Every other 3440x1440 100hz gsync monitor is at least a grand.

They sold out. The AOC Agon 34" is the only one under a $1000. Even when they first came out they were I think $899 or less.
 
Pretty good deal then. I've had the Acer X34 for a little over a year and it's great.
 
I had this monitor for 2 days, Bought at Microcenter when they price matched Amazon. At 100hz I had really bad ghosting. Also gsync helped but didn't eliminate screen tearing. I have a 1080ti and installed latest drivers. Went back to a Dell S2716DG. Most people seem happy with theirs so I'm not sure if they're happy running at 60 hz or what. For me it seemed like a big step down just to go ultrawide.

I'm curious to see how this compares to the other G-sync monitors I own. I'll be sure to report back when it arrives.

*Shrug* works fine for me or I just don't notice anything...guess me having bad eyes saves me some money :LOL:
 
Just got mine in today. Played a few games and have not noticed any ghosting. Definitely will not be going back to the my 32" 60hz IPS. I would definitely say this is worth the money if you can deal with the innate cons of VA display.

Imgur works good for that. Or just drag and drop the pics from your folder to the [H]ardForum post window and it should add them to the post.

Had considered this monitor a while back but it was OOS for so long ended up going with an ACER Predator (even with the price premium) and have loved the extra wide view ever since.
 
pic didn't work. imgur is the quickest, flickr also works and is free but a little more complicated. Are their any 3440x1440 monitors out there with 1ms response time and G-sync or is this as good as it gets? How much better would thing thing be than my 1440p korean special sips with 1ms response time that overclocks to 96htz?

I own two Qnix 32" 2560x1440 VA monitors, but they only OC to 75hz and the response time is far better on the AOC. Not sure how this would compare to the ones you're referring to, but I think the major selling point with this model is the size and G-sync. Its worth mentioning that the viewing angles are pretty bad on this thing, worse than other VAs I've used in the past. Looks good from the front of course. All that said, I dont think you'll find a 1ms VA or IPS display. You're going to have to look for TN displays for that kind of speed.

Still have not taken the stickers off. Wanted to hook it up and check for dead pixels and what not immediately.

Looks like my order went through. I just received confirmation and my credit card was charged. That was a lot quicker than I thought it would be!

Does it have some sort of Energy saving mode on? Maybe it's auto adjusting?

Not that I can see, but it seems unique to the demo. Have not seen this happen in any games. It's almost like a flicker. I don't think it's anything to worry about.
 
I guess I should have backordered it it's back to $799 :( Now way I can pay that much after seeing it on sale!
 
Awesome screen! Set mine up yesterday. Coming from my ROG Swift TN panel, this one is noticeably slower but not even close to deal breaking, but is so much more immersive. The ultrawide gets into the peripherals of the eyes which is really unlike anything I've ever experienced. VR being the only exception. I did find that installing the driver for the screen helped with the fluidity of games, but maybe I'm trippin. Anyway, for this price it was so worth it.

I'm sure it'll go back down eventually. Many of these monitors go on sale quite frequently. The only time you can be assured a sale won't happen again (probably) is when it's a discontinuation sale. Like that Dell color laser printer sale. That's probably not coming back...
 
The more and more I game on it the more I love it! So glad I pulled the trigger and didn't wait for the PG35VQ...who knows when that thing is going to come out!
