I would like to know if you can play all games natively @2560x1440 with black bars on sides, basically if you can use this monitor as a 1440p monitor, no scaling required. Some games have no support for ultra wide res, will be using this monitor for gaming, web, 60hz is not a problem for me.
Do you loose picture quality/sharpness @2560x1440 if down scaling is required?
TY for the info

Yes, you can play games at 2560x1440p, 1:1 scaling, with black bars on the side. Just set the aspect ratio on the monitor to 1:1 and make sure to turn off scaling on your videocard settings. Downscaling is not required, it will do 1:1 2560x1440p. I do this with a few older games on my Dell U3415W.

Hi

I have a question about 3440x1440 ultrawide monitors as well. I want to get one to connect my laptop (to watch movies) and Xbox 360 (Elite) to it. My laptop has a NVIDEA GT540m which has a maximum resolution of 2560x1600. If I was to connect my laptop to one of these monitors what would happen? Would it somehow work natively? Would it downscale it to 2560x1080 or would it just put some black bars on the sides so that the width is down to 2560? If it can be downscaled in 21:9 resolution would it look crap or alright? And with the Xbox 360, can it even work properly on a resolution higher than 1920x1080?

Thanks
