3070 on launch day

LMAO at those 3070 prices, seems again like 3 cards at msrp. The Strix has the nerve to be $629.
 
I heard on one of the Youtube tech channels that you're only going to be able to buy Founder's Edition cards at Best Buy and Microcenter, not at Nvidia's website anymore. I haven't heard anything else about that though.

Either way, I'm off tomorrow and I think I'm gonna run up to Best Buy and just see if they might have one in stock. I'm kinda hoping they make it where you can only buy in store only. We're supposed to be getting some pretty bad storms coming through here tomorrow so I'm hoping that keeps some customers away lol.

I'm not betting on snagging one, just want to try for the fun of it. Had my heart set on a 3080 but for $500 and the performance these things giving, I think I'll be pretty happy with one for the next couple years.
 
Stock for the 3070 was not nearly as bad as the 3080/3090 although it is sold out now. I had plenty of time to buy a 3070 at release but didn't want to. I didn't think the 3070 before hand would sell out immediately either since it basically matches the performance of the 2080ti. Since there are a ton of used 2080tis on the market for the same price, it isn't that big of a deal to find a card in at that performance for that price. Still, I felt like most of the reviewers were pushing "GO BUY BEFORE IT RUNS OUT!!!" narrative a little to aggressively. Especially in light that the 6xxx series from AMD are competitive on the high end for once in a very long time. I personally wasnt excited about a 3070 as I still have my 2080ti. I rather upgrade than side grade my card if I am going to buy a new card. Even if I had something like a 2080 or 2070 the 3070 really doesn't look like a compelling offer for me. If I was on something older like a 970 and skipping gens to get the best bang for the buck the 3070 may be a bit more compelling. Still it is offering nothing really over a used 2080ti for the same price.
 
tried for a 3070 just for a toy till i could get a 3080 or 6800/6900 series - they were all sold out instantly. Had 5 different sites open attempting in this order: Newegg - Bestbuy - microcenter - evga - amazon. Got into cart in bestbuy a few times but it was always removed. congrats to anyone that scored a card - I struck out on all 3 product launches so far.

what? used 2080ti are $900. the 3070 new is $500. theres only 200 listings on ebay for the 2080ti. compared to the 900 for the 3070. the 3070 is selling for about $900 which makes sense. since its more or less a 2080ti.

Give it time, they'll come down. One sold here for $550 two days ago. With normal availability of the 3070, I'd expect $400-450 pricing on the 2080Ti.

Yeah I really want that 11 GB VRAM. Only trouble is getting a warranty on a used card.

I think they might hold their value a bit better than that. Gaming isn't everything, so I think the 2080Ti other than a few fewer FPS is still as good or better than the 3070. I think $550 is a fair settling price. The 2080Ti has more vram and appears to outperform the 3070 in some rendering applications at least in early testing.
