2TB WD Elements External Drive $69.99 @ Staples

hope your right! someone told me there is stickers that specifically say "void if removed" though.

I never had to rma an ext so I don't know.

Void for the actual product, which consist of the external case and the HDD. From my experience, HDD's by itself carried its own warranty. Unless WD specifically marked these HDD's as part of the Elements External Drive, I doubt they would be able to tell if these are OEM HDD's or ripped out of the external.

Out of stock. You have to be kidding me. Just wasted $2.15. :(

bummer bro. these deals go quick. the sale wasn't even supposed to be live until 6am EST.

you can possibly use that coupon in the store and MAYBE even see if they have the drive in stock at the retail store. it could workout for you still but doubt it.

The $25 off $75 should still work for in store purchases though. I've done it many times.

But nothing else is priced like that, and the nearest Staples is over ten miles away. I'll just take my $2.15 loss I guess.

I got 4 of them (two separate orders) before they went OOS. Was going to order two more with the coupon but that's life.

i'm saying if they have that same drive in the store you can try and pricematch it to the online price and use the coupon.

my staples near me is really generous and always accepts my coupons.

best buy on the other hand.. they are asses and never do nothing for me.

Well here's what I'm thinking of doing. I'm going to use my coupon to buy the Trend Micro for 69.99 plus the Kingston 8GB USB DRIVE. The rebate on the Trend Micro results in 69.99 visa card. So I'll spend:

$69.99 (Trend Micro Titanium)
$9.99 (Kingston 8GB USB Drive)
$2.15 (Coupon price)
Total = 86.93 (including tax)
-25.00 (coupon)
------------------
Final Total = 61.93

I get a 69.99 visa card plus Trend micro and the Kingston for free. Net cost -$8.06 so I didn't waste my 2.15 coupon.

Looks like I was pretty close in my estimates.

It's not a complete waste as I thought I would never be ordering coupons again for staples as I never buy items there. Here I am ordering again when last time it was for a UPS on sale. :D I'm sure you can find something to buy eventually.

Mine wasn't a waste at all, Its going to work out that I got free items and I'm actually making money because I'm getting back 11 bucks more than I spent! That helps defer the cost of the tax on the drives I bought before they went OOS. :D

if you live near a somehwat populated city they will surely be sold out, so wake up early and get there fast. And that's if none of the employees catch onto the deal and they "sell out" before they open.

this deal is hot on the net, spread like wild fire obviously since they sold out in 2 hours.

Decent deal, not THAT much cheaper than normal deals ($89 shipped) once you factor in the bs hassle and taxes from Staples itll be almost that

I perhaps understand why people see this as a deal/steal........but, a 2TB drive under a USB 2.0 interface is not ideal in my book.

Now if you get a black drive, and can pull it out and use it as an internal drive, and you're happy w/ no warranty, I guess I understand.

You maybe should have gotten a 16GB drive for CHEAPER.... check this out:

If you're like me and didn't get to use your hard earned $25off$75 Staples coupon, here is how to get something out of it.

Add Kaspersky NIS 2011 (Free after Easy Rebate) [staples.com] and the Kingston 16GB [staples.com] flash drive to your cart. there is a $59.99 Easy Rebate on the KIS 2011.

Then enter your $25 off coupon and the total will be $59.52 (here in tax heaven California), and you still get free shipping. So you actually make at least 47 cents as we may have the higher sale taxes in the nation

online only. I waited up for this deal, went live at around 235 am est. I waited up, added them to my cart, then had a last minute "fuck i shouldn't be spending this money" moment then went to bed without ordering lol

rofl! I feel you m-man!

Hard drive prices are plummeting daily anyway. With SSD coming out they will only get cheaper.

Same. Only I actually went through the order.:D

Same thing happened to me dude. I had 2 in my car. I was at the last page where you just click "submit." Then I was like fk this and closed it haha. Came back half an hour later and it was sold out haha!

hm my order history page shows the order, but in the order details, it shows nothing in my order hahha... anyone else getting this

Haven't received a confirmation email yet. :x Guess I should have made an account so I could check order history/details.

I was first at like 11pm ish, looks like my order didnt go through, I have an order number, printout, no charge on my card as we speak and no email update, darn lol

I ordered two of them twice, two separate orders for two units each order and got email confirmation on both orders. The first order took about an hour before I received an email and in that time I submitted my second order. This was at around 3:00 AM and 3:45 EST, respectively. At 4:25 and 4:26 am I received email confirmations.

So if you guys haven't yet received an email, maybe your order went through but perhaps they already were OOS and thus your order is hung up somewhere in the system and is going to be canceled. But then again, if you were issued an order number perhaps its just a glitch and your order will go through. I don't know, all I can say is it didn't take long before email confirmation was sent for my orders, but maybe no news is good news? (meaning it hasn't been canceled).

I ordered pretty quickly but I havnt gotten any confirmations yet..I am going to guess it is gonna be canceled.

I just spoke w/ staples rep. and they were able to get the order on hold to go through, but not with coupon code, and 1 order was canceled as the hard drive was removed. So if it says their is a problem with your order the item is being held for you, but you have to call to clear it up without the code and give payment method to them again.

So all in all 1 hard drive with code, 1 hard drive without $25 off.

Prior to speaking with rep.
I had 1 order w/ hard drive removed.

I had 1 order w/ $25 off discount removed.

I had 1 order that went through properly w/ code and hard drive.

here's something interesting.. read the price matching info on Staples Site...

http://www.staples.com/sbd/content/help/using/general_match.html

In particular..

If you find a lower price anywhere else on a new identical item, just show us the lower price when you buy the item at Staples and we will match the price, or within 14 days of your Staples purchase and we will give you the difference.

If you find a lower price in one of our stores, catalogs or on staples.com®, we’ll gladly match the lower price. If an item is marked “clearance,” the clearance price is only valid for an in–stock product that is marked at that clearance price.

We don’t match our store prices to those on other companies’ Web sites. We don’t price match our Staples® EasyTechSM services. We don’t price match our third–party providers’ products and services (e.g., custom printing), items sold on auction sites or at local or special events (e.g., grand opening, anniversary, clearance or liquidation sales). We don’t price match taxes and typographical errors.

Edit: Interesting conversation with a customer service rep, apparently "sales" override the price match rules they have on their own damn website. Would be nice if they listed that at all.. anywhere.... yay! False advertising!

Everything there is clear as crystal. They honor the websites prices in store via Price Matching as per their own rules regarding it.

Hope this helps somebody who lives near a staples.

Problem is, most Staples will be OOS due to the sale that just ended which had them for $99. Not saying you won't find a store that has a few, but the majority of them are likely to be OOS from last weeks sale. Just trying to save y'all from driving around wasting gas, i.e., call ahead to see if they have any.

Like I said, they are ignoring price matching rules for this sale so it'd be retail. You may want to call ahead to a store and confirm but that's what customer service told me.

guess it is okay i missed it since not too many orders were placed successfully... glad some people got it though

Got my cancellation email a couple of minutes ago. Totally thought I had that deal since I ordered at like 3:01AM lol.

On the plus side...

Staples said:
Due to the inconvenience, within the next few weeks we will send you a courtesy coupon for $30 off a future Staples order. We hope you will continue to look to Staples with confidence and satisfaction for all of your office supply needs.

Hopefully they'll have some worthwhile stuff to order. :)
