I've got 2 identical drives (80GB Maxtors) on my primary IDE chain (mobo = ECS K7S5a Pro; SiS 735). After being on for a few days, 2K seems to forget that the slave is UDMA and reverts back to PIO. A reboot fixes things for a few more days...

I'm downloading what appears to be an updated driver from the SiS webzit; if that doesn't fix it, is there anything else I should be looking for?

You could alway's remove the devise from windows and allow it to redetect.

Problem solved.

I installed the newest drivers which were telling me that the drivers were only in UDMA-2 (ATA/33) instead of UDMA-5(ATA/100) like they should be. I then looked at the event log and there was a long string of parity errors on that drive.

Swapped the IDE cable for a new one and they're at ATA-100 speeds now and, hopefully, will stay that way.
