Just like the title states......I'm currently in shop around mode, and from what I see, the 6950 and 560Ti (cards in my price range) trade blows pretty well. The kicker for me is, I love eye candy, and I'm struggling to get that with my GTX260 these days.

The biggest question I've got in my head is, do I go for a card with 2gb of VRAM so I can max out my games? Newest game on the pc is Batman: Arkham City, but I definitely see some Skyrim in my future too.

Current rig is:

970BE running at 3.7ghz
Biostar TA-890GXE
8gb G.Skill Ripjaws
Antec Signature 650w
1tb hdd

I'm just looking to get something to last me another 2.5 - 3 years like the 260 has.

You might want to bump up to the 570 or even the 6970...They will give you better performance I think. You would just have to dip into your wallet a bit more, but I do think the extra $100 will be justified if you want all the eye candy...the 6970 might even be a better bang for the buck at this point.

The PSU you have should be able to handle either of those cards I stated very nicely. You would not be able to go with 2 cards though...

EDIT: What is your resolution you are running at?

A 6970 isn't too far out of reach, especially if I picked one up on the FS/T forum, I guess.

I'm limited by my case and mobo to just one, so no worries there :D

1920x1200, on a 24" monitor.

2GB is not really the "bestest of the best" -- there are better cards with less memory

For your needs, and wanting to get something that will last a while... I'd say these:

EVGA GTX570 (you can get the cheaper one w/o the lifetime warranty if you'd like, no difference in performance)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...mp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B004EHZD5W

Or the MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC Graphics Card
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...mp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B004XVMAKU

Or, if you can enable 2 video cards (sli motherboard capability) get 2x of these for 2GB of hardcore GPU power-->
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...mp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0050I1PHO

(then this might be better and last a little bit longer if you use 2 of these slightly cheaper cards. They are a little bit cheaper, but when you combine them together they completely maxout and stomp any game out right now at your HD resolution.)

Hard to go wrong with the 6970, if you can swing the price (and after rebate, some of them are pretty well priced now anyway).

Dont waste the 100 dollars. Get a MSI Twin Frozr III r6950 PE/OC 2gb and unlock it. If you look at benchmarks you may get like 5-7 more fps with the 6970 and the 6950 has the potential to unlock. I unlocked two MSI 6950's One of which I bought about a week ago.

Interesting......there's one of those for sale in the forum for $260 shipped. I kind of had my heart set on sticking with nVidia, but that really seems like a great card versus the 570 and definitely versus the 560Ti, at around the same price (MSI Twin Frozr III edition).

Great thoughts and advice here guys, keep it coming!

I'm not familiar with SLI or Xfire, but isn't a 1GB card + 1GB card = 1GB of total memory with SLI?

I totally agree with Greene420 for little more money you can get more than good.... this will last you alot longer with alot effect.

For Batman the GeForce is most likely the right choice if it's the same as its predecessor. At that resolution the vram isn't going to do whole lot, and when you need it you would also need more performance than what a single 6950 is able to give. There might be some expections but that's gist of it anyhow. In any case you can't go wrong with either 560Ti or 6950. There's been some rumors though that Nvidia would be dropping prices in December, and next gen is coming at some point next year too.

Well, seeing how Kepler is or isn't delayed, I'll be paying special attention to the "new" 560Ti announcement on Tuesday, too.

Is say 6950, and unlock it. My TF II unlocked fine. If you plan to watercool stick with reference designs though so full blocks fit.

Thats still only 1GB for the 560Ti. Sli is still being seen as two separate cards by the system instead of one big rendering engine

If you can get a good deal on the 560Ti go for it. It will easily handle Skyrim and BAC on maximum. If you can get a good deal on a 6950 or 70 that could be another good option. Personally I am after a 570 because I'm mainly interested in BF3.
