I'll try and make this clear and concise. If I left anything out, lmk.

I have a 15" laptop, but it's just too small when using it on my desk. I'm slightly nearsighted (can't see far away). Usually the screen is about 2-3 ft away.

I use my monitor for word processing, a lot of database viewing and general stuff for work and internet...including videos and yes I will admit...porn when the GF is away.

I actually prefer minimalist styling and kind of like the bezel-less type displays. Ideally, looking to stay below $300, but that may be unrealistic.

Any suggestions are welcome

check out the section on techbargains.com computers->monitors

they have some good stuff there

27" Samsung VA curved panel Samsung S27E510CS 27" 1080p VA Curved Screen LED LCD Monitor $199.99 - Techbargains ($200)

here's a sexy 29" LG ultrawide for just under 300 - LG 29UM67P 29in 2560x1080 IPS Panel LED LCD Monitor $269.99 - Techbargains

Personally for minimalist style - I prefer the recent dell line of UltraSharps etc.

Id wager the Ssamsung would suit you well. Plus it's curved... curves = sexy, sexy = porn.

I'm a huge fan of VA panels. That said, I won't necessarily recommend one to you. You're not a gamer. You're not a graphics artist. You come across as simply wanting a 27" display with some preferences. I'm going to mainly steer you towards IPS displays because, unless someone has a specific panel preference, IPS generally is the most well rounded for mainstream users. So, here's a short list of my recommendations:

HP 27XW:

It's a gorgeous budget 27" IPS panel with a glossy-like coat. It has that near bezel less look that you desire. They are no longer being manufactured, but Costco is selling excess stock at $199. Grab one while you can.

LG 27MP36HQ-B:

Uses the same exact panel found in the above 27XW. Main pro is that it's roughly $50 cheaper, typically sold around $150. Main con based on your criteria is that it's not a frameless design. The tossup is the coating, which is more matte than gloss. Get this if you prefer film (reduced visual quality, but also reduces glare/reflection) over glossy.

Philips 276E6ADSS:

The first "quantum dot" monitor, and at $299 the top end of your budget, this has arguably the best visual quality of any panel in this segment. Get it if you want to splurge.

BenQ EW2750ZL:

The only VA panel I'm recommending here, because I own it, love it, and chose it over the HP 27XW after side-by-side comparisons. It's not "better" than the monitors above. But, if IPS glow bothers you, get this instead. It's better than a TN and is typically $199, well within your budget. Also has the frameless design.

Thanks for the suggestions, I was eyeing up that BenQ before. Does it ever bother you that there is almost no bezel top left and right, but the bottom is rather wide? Or you don't notice it at all? I've also read that below 1440 on a 27" can get pixelated/grainy. Maybe that's just for hardcore gamers and photo editing?

I've been eyeing an Acer H277H. IPS display, bezel-less somewhat, and cheap.
