Hello, I feel like my HP2207H is a fantastic monitor but it likely isn't doing me any favors in gaming. I've been following the G-sync monitors for a while now and they aren't truly mainstream but rather expensive. The Acer/Phillips I think are the most reasonably priced ones but with everyone talking about 4k I'm not sure if 1080p is the way to go. Ultimately I'm quite confused which monitor to go with or if I should continue to wait. What are you guys thinking about buying or have bought? I figure 144Hz is definitely the way to go and thats about all I've figured out.

It is all about what your GPU can push. If it cannot push 4k at decent rates then non sense in getting 4k. Plus, a lot of 4k monitors are only sitting around 30hz to 60hz so all you would be doing is up-scaling your current monitor.

If you are not interested in dropping the money on the G-Sync hype yet, I would get a BenQ or Acer 120/144hz monitor @ 1080p.

I just bought a new naptop & it was kind of a pain finding a gaming laptop with a good quality display & without it being 3k or 4k.. As Lames. said its about what your GPU can push. If you want 4k your going to need a pretty hefty GPU to push it.

this is totally subjective but g-sync is the best thing to come to PC gaming in a long time. right now the premium for it is pretty high, probably unreasonably so. it's a frivolous expense but a damn fun one :D. it might be a good idea to wait it out until freesync is upon us. could be cheaper.

i am kinda worried that nvidia wont make atleast 900-series compatible with freesync, unless there is some proper pressure to do so. Atm this is not the case and i believe 900-series doesnt support freesync atleast officially.
