2500k or 3550?

Last year when I built my wife a new PC, I went with an I5-2500, in large part with the hopes that the HD 2000 would be enough gpu power for her and it has been. Her only gaming is online scrabble, she runs two monitors 1920x1200 and 1280x1024, watches a fair amount of video (internet streaming and home network), and uses a number of graphics programs for her work - she is self employed and works at home doing weather research.

Assuming your wife doesn't game, go for a 3570k with HD4000 graphics and you won't need a dedicated GPU - save on the cost of the build, power and heat.

If you're using the IGP, I'd get the IB.
Not true in this case. The Ivy 3550 has HD2500 while the 2500k has HD3000 graphics. To get the better HD4000 you have to buy the 3570k or an Ivy i7. Shame that one of the real benefits of this "tick" is available on so few CPUs.

My bad...never mind what I said then.
