2500K + Hyper 212+ Users, what are your temps? Are mine ok? 48x multi currently

Hey guys, just wanted to compare some temps to see if I'm getting the proper performance out of my Hyper 212+ on a OC'd 2500K. If I'm way off I may need to re-apply the thermal paste to see if it helps. Thermal paste im using is Noctua NT-H1 and I just used the 3 line method between the cooper pipes on the bottom of the 212+ to apply it.

Ran Prime95 Blend test last night, Completed 451 Tests in 5hr 51min. 0 Warnings, 0 errors.
2500K OC'd to 4.8GHz (48x100) on 1.3v -set in bios, although HW Monitor Pro Shows a max of 1.33 for some reason. Used Real Temp and Core Temp to log.

Motherboard Temp
24C Min 26C Max

Low
27 30 28 26

High
70 76 77 72

Do the highs or temps in general look ok? From what I saw whenever Cores 2 and 3 got to 76/77 they didnt really stay at that temp long, maybe a split second then dropped back down to 72 or so. May have had something to do with heat kicking in during the middle of the night. Should I try lowering the vcore to help temps? I dont know if that would help at all, I am a little new to OC'ing Intel chips. Used to be an AMD guy... not anymore! :p.

yes those are fine, the tjmax on the sandy bridge is somewhere around 100C i think possibly higher. nice OC btw

Thanks guys! At what temps during the Prime95 Blend Test should I start to get concerned and back the OC down a bit? I want to try for 4.9 or even maybe 5.0 later this week.

Just ordered another CM Blademaster 120mm fan for a Push/Pull setup on the 212+, that should help a little with temps too.

dang, you are making me feel good :) I've orderd a 2500k some time ago, and was considering the 212+ :D

Thank you!

I love the 212+ so far :D. I ran a Xigmatek Dark Knight on my 955BE before this and that was OK, but the installation on that thing was a pain in the butt & I wanted something better for the 2500K. The ASUS tech specialist over in the "Official ASUS P8P67 Overclocking Guide" thread recommended the 212+ so I went with that.

*cooling recommendation and test performed with CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ with Single Fan, this is the minimum recommendation for multis above 46x. For 50+ multis we recommend a dual fan configuration with this cooler or improved cooling.

That was taken straight from the first post he made. You'll enjoy it! The installation was a piece of cake :)

You should test with LinX or IntelBurnTest instead; they are more stressful and will cause the CPU to run at higher temperatures. I personally wouldn't worry unless you start seeing numbers in the 90+ range.

thank you very much :) I'm already a happy man, despite my ordered HW being (litterally) in all corners of the country :p

Haha I know how you feel man. that was me last week waiting for all my goodies to arrive :p

Currently, 1hr Prime95 stable at 4.9GHz 49x multi at 1.35v (HW Monitor Pro shows a min 1.34 max 1.38 vcore) Still working on figuring out why it fluctuates like that when I set it to 1.35 in bios... unless its supposed to? Also could cores 2/3 be hotter than 1/4 if thermal paste isn't on there evenly or enough? Or should I not worry about it... Sorry for all the questions :( my 955BE was always at 1.41 vcore and didnt fluctuate this much, maybe down to 1.40 . With the vcore at 1.32 I would BSOD at the start of Prime95, but with it set to 1.35 I'm good at the moment.

Temps - Motherboard 25C

Min
27 28 27 26

Max
76 83 83 79

Again cores 2/3 jump up a little then drop back to that 77/78 range

May be able to get temps for cores 2/3 down if I can figure out how to keep vcore from moving so much.

Don't worry about temperature differences between cores. That's perfectly normal.
