Ok need some opinions. With the new A64 timetables, it looks like I wont be able to buy my new ninja system until late may.
I simply cannot stand my 1.4tbird/256megs PC133 ram any longer. UT2K4, Battlefield Vietnam and Far Cry are calling. So... I'm looking into a teeny little bump to get me through March april and may (when I'll buy my bigboy 'Doom3/Half-Life2' uber box)
I've come up with the obvious/easy/cheap upgrade: Barton 2500+, Asus A7NX-VM, and one stick of 512meg PC3200 ram. The idea is to keep things CHEAP here (thus the single stick of memory - plus everything I've read indicates that dual memory channels doesnt really do jack all for the athlon Xp's anyways). So, I was wondering, would the retail heatsink and fan of the 2500+ do an ADEQUATE job of cooling an overclocked 2500+? I really dont want to buy a fancy schmancy $50 cooler for this budget, cheapo, temporary upgrade.
Thoughts?
