Just looking for some opinions on what would be best to play WoW at around 60+FPS at the 1680x1050 Widescreen resolution. Recently acquired a Gateway 21" LCD that is struggling to display it because of my 9600Pro. I know everyone says look at PCIE, but I did a full upgrade last Christmas. This year a new video card purchase is looking to get another year out of my current system:

Athlon64 3200
1GB of Corsair
ASUS K8N (i think) board

I plan on dropping the 9600Pro into my fiance's computer which should be just what she needs to run it WoW on her little 17 inch CRT.

My budget for the new card is around $250, but of course if I could get by with a 6600 or something for $150 or so, that would be awesome. Just not sure if it's capable of displaying the larger resolution at acceptable frames.

I know there's been rumors about the 6800GS in AGP which does sound sweet, and it has been seen on an overseas site, but I need to get this ASAP because it's from the fiance and she wants to watch me unwrap it!

Would I be better off going for an ATI x800 or something?

if you can find a x850xt for that much it would be a lot quicker...look on the delas section of hard forum

Thanks for the info on that card!! But, I talked it over with the fiance, and I have flip-flopped on what I am planning to do. I think I'm going to get a new mobo that is PCI and grab one of a 6800GS. That should run me around $280. I know, it's crazy to stay socket 754, but I can't justify the 939, when my Athlon64 3200 is perfectly fine for now.

I've decided on:

EVGA 6800GS http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130258

DFI nF4X Infinity http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813136162

What do ya think?

yea, 6800GS sounds good to me. Then when you upgrade your proc you won't need a new video card.

My advice is to DEFINITELY skip 939 b/c M2 is coming out so soon. Definitely wait to see how that shapes up.
