Screaming Villains has finally released the Night Trap: 25th Anniversary Edition. Previously corrupting our youth 25 years ago on the Sega CD, the game is out again for only $15 on both the PC and PS4. Tyler Hogle, the lone developer was able to get the masters from the director James Riley and recreate the game without the long-forgotten original source code. Players take the role of a member of the Special Control Attack Team (SCAT) who's sole job is protect five teenage girls from terrorizing intruders during their weekend slumber party. Get some friends over this Friday, it's time to party!
You curious folks can check out the C-Span hearing (includes bonus description of Mortal Kombat footage).
Night Trap was developed over six months in 1987, with a budget of $1.5 million and 16 days spent shooting 35mm movie footage. But Hasbro canceled the Control-Vision in 1989. Night Trap got a new lease on life thanks to the Sega CD a few years later, which could handle its video-based gameplay.
