How exactly do you hate "identity politics" and then quote MLK?
I see nothing inconsistent or incongruous in what I wrote. If you do, then make your case.

did you mean to say that you hate it when one's identity is used against another's?I see nothing inconsistent or incongruous in what I wrote. If you do, then make your case.
I'm so sick and tired of the victimization of everything and everybody.
What better way to disprove gender bias against women than to question the masculinity of the men in the video and then to ponder the possibility as to whether these men have seen women genitalia so eloquently defined as "pussy?"
if the intent was to troll some of you I think they succeeded.![]()
Once again to prove a point, I took all of the castaway female gamers, along with some cool guys, and formed a raiding group. Some of the ladies were programmers, ran companies, grandmothers, disabled, etc. One of our High Warlords was a female and she wasn't allowed to raid with the guys without harassment. We defeated all of the hardmode content weeks before the "hardcore" groups within the guild were able to get past the second boss.
I didn't see much wrong with the video. Seemed kinda spot on to me. I don't have issues with respecting others when I game. By the same token I like to cheer a win with some choice words and take someone winning in stride.
As far as women receiving propositions for sexual favors in voice chat it has been a big issue for me as a GM for a number one guild before on a server in the PvP MMO Aion. I solved that quickly by giving a couple of the women praise in voice chat and posting their DPS numbers on our website. BTW they were some of the best tanks, DPS, and healers we had. Our guild would swarm you for weeks if you managed to kill one of our members out in the world. Even though everyone knew which of our players were female, they didn't F with them our they would have to deal with all of us. And that stance applied to voice chat also.

Here is the leader of one of our sister Legions helping take a fort. Yes, Mewsette was godlike in the game. She would transform into a deity at forts to help us take them. Her transformation always ended in us taking the fort because we wouldn't her to die. Yes, it demoralized the opposite faction as we would post our voice chat logs from raids and they would hear this mature Asian female effusing about stomping them into a mud hole. Which she would do over and over for hours on in with glee.
I think that people just have to learn to respect one another when online. I squashed the racism, hate, and sexism while running the number one guild on my server. Everybody hated us because we took all of the resources and gear from outdoor bosses on the server. But they all respected us as individuals for our talents and collectively as a well run group.
That's what is missing in many of the poorly run guilds I've been in over the years. This was true especially in World of Warcraft. I've been in some that we had to stop the raid and kick someone because they kept posting dick pics in TeamSpeak when they would hear a female voice. The GM would side with the guy because the rule of thumb is that girls can't play and we needed all of the men for serious raiding.

We had all of the achievements and were called hacks and worse because it was supposedly impossible to do on our RP server. What we did was show up on time, pay attention to detail, and made everyone accountable for their actions. That's it. Even in winning, we were ostracized by the so called elite because of the females in the group. So we ended up leaving the guild and finding other games to play. Which was a really F'ed situation.
So I personally don't take offense to the video. I think that having females represented in gaming is a good thing. I don't think every title should appeal to everyone just as every movie has it's own audience. But their should be enough varied content that there is something for everyone to choose from. I can't wait for the day when nobody notices any of these "injustices" because gaming has evolved like the movie industry where there is something for everyone.
Thought it was worth posting about. If you made it through, kudos to you!![]()
Sounds to me like you didn't put together a bunch of women that were ostracized because they were women, but because they were toxic. The kind of people that every guild has dealt with in the past. Only these were the typical kind of people that have victim complexes and when they were ostracized because of their toxic personality, they blame it on the fact they are women.
I'm sure some of it is legit. But they speak in absolutes like these things always happen to women gamers. I haven't observed that to be the case.
What's even more ridiculous than the content is the fact that it's paired with effeminate men who have never even seen a pussy, nor ever will in real life.
Also, speaking of the "norm," whether you are a male or female playing any online game, having some little kid scream "I JUST F*CKING RAPED YOU F*GGOT" and teabagging you after he kills you is the norm. Or five minute rants about "killing your entire family" after your team beats his team...is the norm. You DON'T MOVE OUT OF YOUR HOUSE and start taking donations on your website, you just mute the little bastard, block them and move on to the next match. If this bothers you, do what most of us do...quit playing CoD.![]()
Are you seriously incapable of making a distinction between "threats" like that compared to events like someone digging up your personal information and posting it online for every single nutjob on the planet with internet access to obtain? Or when some nutjobs actually do take the time to show up outside your work and post pictures of them doing so on social media? And the people in those pictures haven't been kids, FYI...Yeah, I'd really like to see some of these insults and such in context. Considering what I, as a "privileged white male", have heard from these kiddies that haven't hit puberty yet, I'd be quite surprised if it's really all that different for a female. Some of us are just smart enough to not take it personally and mute, block, and ignore them.
Actually, the World Health Organization has classified violence against women as a worldwide epidemic.Whatever.... as if this was the biggest problem this world is facing...![]()

I was under the impression that was the basis for her project.
funny enough, I just realized we're both right because it's "not one" video but every video of hers that delves into the topic...but I don't think that's what you meant![]()

You obviously don't know the 3rd-wave and intersectional feminist mantra "Listen and Believe." As in, you don't have to know anything about the subject they're talking about, you just have to believe and take everything they say at face value. They use the basis of this idea to shoot down, attack and ostracize anyone who questions what they're presenting because there is no way for you to know what they go through. Even though we have years of real data, statistics, and scientific studies that point to what the scope of the real issues affecting woman in first-world countries are.I'm sure some of it is legit. But they speak in absolutes like these things always happen to women gamers. I haven't observed that to be the case.
I haven't seen people attribute this issue causally to video games. The discussions I've seen are just about how video games are another place this occurs within. This is a panel of video game reviewers and developers talking about the issue in the space they are familiar with and enjoy: video gaming.could you please address the point that this has nothing to do with videogames and everything to do with the fact that some people are assholes?
Yet, not ONE Feminist Frequency video about the issue. Not one.Just sayin'.
Why is Adam Sessler the only one who acts like they've talked in public before?
More to the point, how is any of that type of "shop talk" deemed harrassment or oppressive against women? Is this really what is considered "white male privelege?" All people of all races and genders talk like this in their own circles. It's called being human. Having hurt feelings isn't a reason to start a crusade to change the makeup of an entire industry.I haven't seen people attribute this issue causally to video games. We could go to a car oriented form and find women talking about going to garages and seeing pin-up girls and men joking about how stupid they are around cars. They could say something like, I like to race cars and work on cars and I don't like those comments. It wouldn't make sense to conflate that concern with "how does this have anything to do with cars?" right? It would just be the venue the people are experiencing the issue, not that they are claiming it's directly related to racing or working on cars.
When it comes to the internet, however, the issue is certainly exacerbated by the anonymity afforded to netizens. I'm not sure how you can ignore that part of the equation.
*snip*
did you mean to say that you hate it when one's identity is used against another's?
that's the most charitable interpretation of your comment. the less charitable interpretation is that you simply don't understand what identity politics are.
All I am saying is that we live in a country where women are not considered property, women have the right to vote, they don't get stoned to death for wearing revealing clothing, they aren't beheaded or sentenced to life in prison for working or trying to get an education. All these things happen every day around the globe and here we are arguing that Mario rescuing Princess Peach is sexist.
Really? REALLY?!?!
If you want to effect change and truly help women around the globe, making a living complaining about "sexist" video games is not the way to go about it.
Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.
