Newegg has a deal on the ASUS VH236H. It ends in 7 hours. It looks to be a great monitor, what do you all think?

It's 1080p, has HDMI, claims a 20,000:1 contrast(which is bs I know...), has speakers(minor perk for me).

The only downside is that I'm sure it's a TN Panel judging by the 160 degree viewing angle. But for $170 for a 23", it's a bit hard to complain

I just bought the VH226H, the 22" version. It's a TN panel, but looks great with bright colors and no ghosting, input lag that I can see. I'm using it as an HDTV/secondary monitor. I wouldn't want a TN panel for my primary monitor.

I bought the Asus VK246H (16:9) monitor and it too is a TN panel monitor; the first I've ever owned. It is connected to my HTPC. Generally speaking it is a decent monitor especially for $220 back in December '08.

Good enough colors for general use, no ghosting, and low input lag. However, it does have poor viewing angles compared to my PVA and IPS panel monitors. The backlighting is uneven, but I have actually seen worse. I have noticed some video artifacts when viewing movies on this thing.

Verdict: Good enough for most people, adequate for me for limited usage.

Well I don't do much on my PC other than Firefox and a little gaming. Beggars can't be choosers and for $200 I'm know I'm not getting a non TN panel with superior pq.

Anyone else have any thoughts before I have to choose in the next hour?

I got one of these I'll be glad to post a mini review when it arrives. It's getting here Fri 5-15.

Wow this monitor is sweet. The only thing I have to compare it to is a Soyo 22in. TN panel.
This panel looks nicer than the Soyo, MUCH brighter....After messing with some settings and getting the brightnesses closer in line the Asus is still has richer brighter colors....The whites on the Asus make the white on the Soyo look gray. Not a single dead stuck or otherwise funky pixel. I'm a very happy camper with a bunch more desk space (replaced a 19" CRT).
