Last year's thread - https://hardforum.com/threads/annual-folding-home-bigadv-eol-5th-anniversary-challenge.2032553/

So, it is that time of year again and we are a bit slow getting things discussed and put in place. Thanks pututu for the nudge. I had totally gotten distracted with the holidays. Is everyone up for another yearly challenge? If so, we need to get word out quick so teams can mobilize.

EDIT: keep in mind this first post can change as details arise.

The event will be Jan 24 10AM PST - 31st 10AM PST. This should allow us to avoid any conflict with PG's month long challenge through February.

I think that we are planning a similar event as last year. I shot Bill1024 a DM with EVGA and also dropped a link and message in TAAT's discord server to see if those teams have any interest. pututu is reaching out to overclockers. I tried logging into OcUK to see if any of them are still around and want to partake but their forums refused to let me log in.

As the unofficial team lead for overclockers.com (T32) we are looking forward to the competition again this year. I think last year was our first. While we started in the lead, I recall that we lost handily. We'll see about that this year.

I just looked at the tutorial. For someone with multiple computers at home, and someone who uses windows, that is not covered at all. At least for TAAT, virtually all of us have multiple computers at home, and many of us are Windows only. Specificly using the remote tab is missing. Also using FAHControl is missing, even though that looks a lot like the advanced control.

One more thing, not related. I HATE the black background. I want it to be like Anandtech with a white background.

Yeah...that video was for a general user and to get someone started. I don't have an advanced video. I do need to make a more modern one.

Folding challenge monitoring stat announcement. (Please read)

In this year challenge, to make the stat monitoring simpler (for me), firedfly has graciously helped to create a simple website to monitor the stat in almost real time. Nothing fancy. Here are some important notes that participants should know about the stat reporting.
  • The stat will update every 5 or 10 minutes usually, depending on the new data/file availability from foldingforum.org website here.
  • EOC stat site does hourly pull of data from foldingforum.org website here and only post the stat every 3 hours.
  • There may be a small discrepancy between these two reporting sites but they are small possibly due to some small delay or lag in the source data file availability and the processing of the raw data file on our side. As the challenge progresses in time, the discrepancy (at least for the team stat) will get smaller as more WUs are completed.
  • The new simple website will show the overall cumulative team stat, individual ranking within each team and among all team participants.
  • The final team standing will be determined by EOC stat at the beginning of the challenge (t=0 hr) and at the end of the challenge (t=168 hrs), not the new simple website. The event will start on Jan 24 10AM PST - 31st 10AM PST which will be based on EOC stat starting Jan 24 12noon CST till Jan 31 12noon CST.
  • The link to the new site (under beta testing) can be found here. A mock-up competition for 3 days is setup starting tomorrow to test out the monitoring stat site. Please feel free to provide comments/questions or if you do spot any errors in this forum here.
Below are the participating teams (currently five teams) for this beta site testing starting Jan 15 to Jan 18. The time shown in the screenshot below is your local time. In my case it is 4:00:00 PM PST.
