News was reporting that OLED's are the hot item this Black Friday with prices dropping hourly... They were 2000+ range last year......

Well all these $3-500 TVs are basically old stock/technology they're trying to push out there to make room for new stuff, hell I've seen similar prices at Costco for a while now. Not a bad TV by any stretch, but if you want the quantum dot technology from Samsung this ain't it. And most probably not an HDR TV (if that's your think), the industry is full of such lies and BS with "HDR compatable" TVs that don't actually do HDR, it just accepts the signal and gives you the finger.

Kind of off topic but I bought a TCL 55R617 for $590 shipped.

Not a BF deal but still $90 cheaper than anywhere else after tax and from my research this TV is better than all of the others for $600 or less. IMO the only thing this TV does NOT have is the true 120hz Refresh Rate. They have a 60hz panel and use Frame interpolation: 120 Clear Motion Index. Not sure how effective that is for the blurs but will see soon enough.

I always wondered how people make lists like that.

Well my super old ass Samsung has that 120 Hz motion garbage, it makes things look ... off, I've heard it described as the "soap opera effect" where the entire screen image just shifts on you. It really is annoying as all hell, and as a result I turn it off, it's not real 120Hz at all. That said, for a TV you probably are not missing anything at 60Hz, now if you use it as a gaming monitor... maybe!?

Hopefully I can toggle that on or off.

For me, it is just for movies and TV. My kid does some gaming but he is so young and would not know a difference.

I do plan on getting Pub G for PS4 but I play my games on a PC monitor.

This is how I look at it, my tv is from 2009, a 40" Samsung capable of 1080p and 120Hz. I doubt I will be disappointed by a 55" capable of 4K. Hell I am even thinking on buying that 55" Hisense from Walmart at 250.00 (if there are any left after black friday). I am going to keep my 40" in my bedroom and the 55" in one of my living rooms so my wife and kids don't bother me. the kids have their own 55" in the family room.

Right or wrong... Technology is so advanced that it is usually a couple if not a few years ahead of TV networks or internet streams and in my personal views, I hardly notice a big difference between a good 1080p stream soccer match or a so called stream 4K match but again, it could be just me ;)

10:08 PM ... it appears walmart servers crapped out, I have been trying to checkout since 10:01 pm . This sucks, they were telling me my Address couldn't be verified and it is the same one I have used for 25+ years and then after choosing pickup they were gone!:rolleyes:

Yeah got a 46" Samsung myself... not sure the age, but 10+ years sounds about right, has a line on one side a pixel or two wide when you first turn it on that eventually goes away as it warms up, and I would love to replace it with something fancy and new, but it's hard to justify when the TV still works fine. And like you said years ahead of what TV networks do, OTA is by far the best image out there (assuming your signal is ok) but they're not going to 4k anytime soon, which leaves various movies (BluRay) and eh... I not really keen on building up a 4k collection of movies, legal ($$$) or not (space).

Every brand calls it different. Tru motion is the usual name. I have yet to see a tv that you can’t turn that effect off. Cuz it sucks butt.

Well, long story short, I was unable to get it online, something tells me it was just to bait people into going to the store today. Normally I possibly go to Walmart 1 time a year and some years not even that, there is just no way in hell you are going to see me there today or tomorrow or even the weekend so I am guessing I will have to buy the Samsung 55" for 400 cheeseburgers at some point in time. I may just order it online and have it deliver to my house and possible avoid paying taxes.

There was a Switch deal at Gamestop that had the Kart bundle with a 50$ gift card. Went in there like 1:30 after they opened today, only had the crappier bundles. Still with 50$ gift card but obviously I didn't buy. I asked them if other stores had them in stock they just immediately answered no. As if it was rehearsed. I'm feeling some Bait and Switch action here... no pun intended...

BF is all about bait and switch. The bait is typically not good itself.

Gamestop has the Xbox One for 399 with a $50.00 gift card, so assuming you’re going to buy a game anyway, that’s 349.99 for the the console

Last year i saw some on Amazon dropped down $1200 well before black friday for the then prior year(s) models.

some simple googling will bring up articles that show with simple testing 4k vs 1080p is generally hard tell unless you sit 4 feet to 1 meter from your tv

Actually, the fine print on the deal was that this offer didn't even apply to the bundle switch. They use purposely misleading pictures. There are people on Slickdeals talking about doing a class action lawsuit for bait and switch, but whatever it's not going to give me my time back. Oh well.

I don't actually care enough for the console to buy it anywhere near MSRP, so I guess I just wasn't meant to have a Switch.
