Sapa Profiles Inc. falsified certification tests and used fraudulent materials sold to NASA and others.
Satellite retention clamshells did not open correctly on climate missions in 2009 and 2011.

“When testing results are altered and certifications are provided falsely, missions fail,” said Jim Norman, director for launch services at NASA in Washington. He added that years of scientific work were lost because of the fraud.

Lowest bid. . . .guess it's true you get what you pay for.

Truly sad though. Thanks for the post.

especially made up bullshit science where consensus is a religion and dissent is heresy.

he who controls the cow farts controls the world!

most people go with the middle of the road bid when considering a job to get done on their personal property.

gov chooses lowest bidder and has to spend twice as much.

makes sense if all you do is borrow printed cash i guess.

Not arguing about climate change but science has been wrong before. Neil deGrasse Tyson is also an egotistical douchebag who likes to think he is really smart because they keep using him on TV but he actually is nothing special.

The unfortunate thing about this is all the time and taxpayer's money wasted because they used the lowest bidder.

The article says the launch failures cost $700 million but the company settled for $46 million. The IRS will audit the shit out of you over comparably trivial amounts, but this company that is demonstrably and admittedly guilty is let off for 15 cents on the dollar.
