If there were other advanced life in the universe wouldn't we have been contacted by now? I think it is safe to assume that we would have been contacted, and since we haven't (or at least I have no knowledge of it) can't I conclude that currently no advanced life exists anywhere in the universe? I think I can.
You have no concept of how big the universe is. Nor do you understand the added dimension of time when relating to galaxies billions of years old.
It has been less than 100 years since humanity began using communications that could go out into space and alert others to our presence. 100 light years is a VERY SMALL portion of the universe.
The Milky Way is 100,000-120,000 light years wide.
At present astronomers estimate there are another 200 billion Galaxies, not stars but entire galaxies, in the visible universe. When they launch the James Webb Space Telescope, that number will rise as we increase our sight range.
As far as the optically assisted computer enhanced human eye can see, there is no end in sight. The universe just keeps going.
