15.6 thin 120hz vs 15.6 thicker 120hz with gsync?

Looking to get a laptop 15.6 inch screen with a gtx 1070. is it important to have gsync with 120hz screen? i still dont even really understand the whole 120hz and gsync and what it really does vs a standard 60hz screen i am so used to. the laptops im looking at seem so only have 120hz with a thin form factor laptop vs the thicker ones have 120hz and gsync.

msi gs63vr, sager np8517, msi ge63vr raider, i know the asus zephyrus has both a 120hz and gsycn screen but its pretty expensive. if you have any other recommendations im always open to them thank you.
 
What resolution? If its 1080p try and spring for one with gsync if its your primary gaming machine. If not thin and light with standard 60hz panel will be fine.

120hz vs 60hz is like 60 FPS vs 30 FPS. I have a few monitors, one 120/144/165hz and it's wonderful.

I'm picking up a new laptop soon myself and hope to find what I want with 120hz and gsync. I'll likely go Alienware. The Max-Q laptops don't seem to be worth it.

I'd love a sager / clevo, but need better warranty support.
 
i have a laptop with a 1070 and gsync. you want Gsync especially at 120hz display !
 
Asus Zephyrus. What's your price range? If you're willing to spend the money the gtx1080 is an option for it. If they had a 17" Zephyrus I'd be all over that. If you're gaming, you want G-sync. It will blow your mind, seriously.
 
Yeah would love that asus laptop if I had the money lol.

ok i have made my decision its either the asus zephyrus 1070 model for $1950 or the Msi gs63vr002 for $1879. which one would you choose and why?
 
The asus will have better build quality. Also you get a 1070 vs 1060. Those seem worth the $70 to me.

He changed the model number on you for the MSI, going from GE63 to GS63. The GS63VR002 has the 1070 in it.

I personally would go with the MSI. I have been looking to pick up the exact one you are looking at, but was waiting to see what the Asus Zephyrus did for reviews, and seeing how regular people like it. I think there is a lot of wasted space on the Asus model, and I don't like the design of it personally.

Plus, reading all the warranty issues and customer service issues with Asus has me turned off from Asus for the time being.

Let us know what you end up deciding! In the end, as long as you're happy, that is what matters :)

i ended up picked up the asus from b and h photo they have a gtx 1080 zephyrus with a 256sdd for $2129 vs the 512 version for $2700 and comes with a lenovo virtual reality headset thing. and since i live in california no tax either. I also decided to get it because of ips 120hhz gsync vs 120hz tn. I am worried about all the bad reviews from amazon saying its faulty or work for a little then something goes wrong. i just pray that this doesn't happen to mine. also i heard the 1070 max q in the asus is about 10 percent better then the max q in the msi.

ok they screwed up on my order. i guess the website was wrong and said 1080 256gb sdd but in reality its a 1070 256 gb for 1850 is what they said the difference is if i dont get it with the lenovo virtual reality thing. now im back to square one should i keep the asus or just get the msi???

Man, that sucks. Did they compensate you at all for the inconvenience?

So, what is the current models and prices you are looking at? Just so we are on the same page.

it was either the zephyrus or the gs63vr002

they didn't compensate anything all they told me to do is when it arrives ups if u don't want it just tell ups u don't want to take it. and that they are sorry for the mix up. so i noticed the 1070 zephryus by it self without the vr unit is 1850 instead of 2129 which i thought that was for the 1080 version with the headset. so then i am thinking about just taking the 1070 asus but not the vr unit they said thats fine we will refund u 280. i think ill go the asus route for now and see how it goes.

well now i am thinking of just waiting it out for volta laptops now that they annouced the volta titan so im sure sometime next year it will release?
