My processor is about 42C when it is just normal and then when I start folding it goes up to 52-53C! Is that bad?

No, that is not bad. It's normal. While you are not running anyhting your processor is just sitting there, doing nothing really, so the temps are low. When you run F@H your processor is doing calculations continuously, so the processor will heat up to a certain point. That temperature is fine, you processor is safe.

Out of curiousity, what proc and cooling are you using.? Regardless of whether its AMD or Intel its a fine temp. Check your ambient temps to see if its high.

It's a fine temp unless you are at the max of your overclock.

If it's stock, it's fine.

That temp doesn't sound out of sorts. I too would be curious to know what processor, cooling, etc you're using. Also, don't forget, ambient temp can also cause temps to shoot up like that.

I have a normal ambient temp (70) and i have an Athlon XP 2500+ stock with stock HSF.

Yeah that's dead in line with what's to be expected.
