So today (my yesterday - work nights) I woke up early because my body is retarded like that (sometimes wrestle with insomnia). I got up and figured i could check and see if the video card I bought off ebay came in, it did - yey!

Took it out of the package.
Looked legit.
Installed the card.
Downloaded drivers.
Tried to go back to sleep.
No dice.
Got back up, got ready, went to work.
While at work, wife called me 15ish times with text informing that there was a bat in our bedroom.
While going back home, called animal control, police department (asking for a differnt number cuz the # wasn't 24/7)
Nope.
So I got home, formulated a plan:
it involved a heavy jacket, 2 left gloves, a medieval reproduction helmet, pole, towel.
I eventually slayed the bat inadvertently. Took me 15-20 mins to realize that it met its fate under a large wooden box.
Wife was not thrilled - I left marks on wall.
I spent another 20ish minutes huntting for my glasses before admitting failure.
Got back to work and proceeded to squint.
Played some Pillars of Eternity 2. Adjusted font.
Wife informed me via txt, that our insomniac 3 year old deciding it would be another long night.
I offer my assitance in the AM - and let her sleep in.
Morning ritual with kids, school etc.
Picup meds. Issues with this too.
Eventually i go to the man cave and experience some solitude with two Guinesses....
Check on my new 1080 ti....

Open up chat with nvidia to help through my feelings.
Said GPU-z it. 980 confirmed.
PCB has all the right etchings and stickers. Along with the cooler (foundation edition).
Open up message with ebay seller letting him know the day of reckoning is now upon him - passively.
Open up ticket with ebay. Thankfully listing had a 14 day return policy.
Went to bed late.

Epilogue (Next day - that is, today, and yesterday being today, for you. Nightshift is awesome):
Went back to work (with no glasses),
Obsessed more on how the world could be so unfair.
Googled more on this in hopes that I'm wrong. Maybe my computers have some kind of computer AIDs.
Google imaged and realized GV-N108TD5X-B doesn't have a DVI.
Hope demolished.
Shipping card back out tomorrow.

Writing this to cope.
Hope it's amusing.

Moral of the story.
Beware when seller accepts $260 best offer for a 1080 ti video card - on ebay.

A bad day indeed. Sorry. One day maybe you'll get a lucky streak and you'll look back on this and laugh.

That is likely one of the best first posts I have ever seen in the video cards forum.

First, welcome to [H]ardfoum,

Second, that was a very entertaining post. Sorry about your bad luck. Ebay is so scummy now days. Hope you get everything resolved.

Lastly, I am convinced you & your family are Vampires :vamp:

TANSTAAFL. You can thank me later, after you figure out how the world works.

I've actually profited buying/reselling a fair amount by taking some risks on ebay/stocks. Sometimes a good deal is a good deal, and fortune favors the bold.... until it doesn't. If it were just the one thing, it would be a little more ho hum. But when its compounded by the universe's glorious sense of humor, on making everything unrelated harder as well..... 'because', it becomes a bewildering spectacle.

Well, I didn't even laugh when I read that. Sorry you had such a bad time, dude, I feel for you. I fucking hate online scammers, I once lost $375 on ebay buying a thing, it was a 100% loss.

just another day in Paradise :barefoot: but you must have been a sight to behold and I just have to ask ... did you use the towel as a cape?

$260 best offer.......lol

I don't know whats more impressive, the balls of that lowball offer
or the sellers attention to detail transitioning a 980 to a "1080ti"

Protip: If you offer $260 and the seller ignores you, its the real deal!

Sorry you didn't get a 1080 Ti... but $260 for that is kind of too good to be true. At least you get your money back!

You'd be surprised what people sell things for at times.

Oh nothing surprises me as long as we have the magical powers of meth in this world!
