Weird issue lately. When my 1080 crashes, the 1080s fan spin to 100%, and all my monitors become unresponsive. This will randomly happen if I browsing the web, or if I'm playing games at 4k. Using Open Hardware monitor, I can watch CPU and GPU temps stay around 35C. My 1080 is the gigabyte watercooled one, and I use a corsair AIO solution on my amd CPU. I know the OS is still alive because If I press the power button, the machine will gracefully shut down. On boot, I get an error that says the driver failed to start with error 46. In device manager, my 1080 shows as an unknown device. If I reinstall the latest gforce driver bundle, the card comes back to life and it'll be fine for a few days before it happens again. Any tips and tricks I should try? I know any excuse to upgrade is a good excuse, but is my card failing? Should I start an RMA process?
