Title says it all pretty much. Need a card again, sold my last 8800gt and been stuck with a 7200gs for a few months now, and I don't want to blow too much change yet. I've been playing source on Dx7. I need a card again bad. Is there anything else in that 90-110 bucks range (new or used) that's even worth considering? New GT's are anywhere from 99-130 bucks or so, used are usually 100. Not even worth going used lately, thinking EVGA/BFG and maybe if things are better in 3 months step up.

Are the 9600GT, 9800GT worth considering? Mainly game at 16x10.

Well first of all, the 9800GT is just a 55nm version of the 8800GT. So it is just a energy efficient version of the 8800GT, same performance. But higher priced (no 9800GT is $100)

The 9600GT could be found for around $100. However the 8800GT outperforms the 9600GT by 10 to 15%. So considering your resolution and $100 range, go for the 8800GT.

9600GT is a downgrade to 8800GT, 9800GT performs better but not significant.

I'm in a similar situation. Thinking of selling my 8800gt, since I picked up a 9800GTX+. You could probably find a regular 9800GTX on the B/Sell for around $120. I bought mine NIB @ $170.

The other card worth getting, to hold you over, would be the ATi 4850.

100 dollars is a bad price point right now, with the 4850 seen at 150 its hard to justify buying the older cards. as mentioned you can get a used card that would work much better for around that price. but some of the newer games run far better on the newer hardware. You might also want to wait a few weeks, I think nvidia is getting ready to dump the current inventory on the "old" GTX260. if nothing else that should push the price of the 9800GTX down some.

then again remember the adage about free advice.

Agreed- if you really can't afford $150, you can't really afford $100 either. There is a pretty big difference if you pony up another $50.
