is there any site that is like a resistor calculater that will give you a 1/4 watt resisistor instead of a 1/8 watt? i only have 1/4 watts

1/4 watts will work the exact same as 1/8th watts.

only.. 1/4 watts will be able to handle a higher load.

Yes. The wattage is just how much power the resistor can handle; it doesn't affect the resistance at all. You can always use a higher wattage resistor than called for(1/2 instead of 1/4 or something), but generally you should not use a lower wattage resistor than called for(1/8 instead of 1/4).

It's like a plumbing comparison. The inner diameter of a pipe determines it's resistance. The thickness of the walls determine its power capacity. The power rating (in watts) is like how thick the pipe walls are. Thick walled or thin, the resistance is the same.

they work the same. overload either of em and you end up with a smokey, burnt mess
