I guess the UK government is sick of spending more than $16,000 a day on trying to arrest Assange so they are moving on to more "overt and covert tactics." Snipers and ninjas?

In a statement issued today, the Metropolitan Police said that "it is no longer proportionate to commit officers to a permanent presence" outside the embassy. After discussions with the Home Office and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, it will "deploy a number of overt and covert tactics" instead of continuing its very visual approach.

How do they come up with that figure?
Let's say you post 2 people outside the Embassy, they change shift every 6 hours, so that is 8 people a day.
Lets say they are paying them $50/hour, that comes out to $2400/day.

food truck bills....:D

I, too, want to know where that figure came from. Are they figuring in benefits? Fuel to drive the guards there and pick them back up? Wear and tear on their boots from standing? Seems like an absurd number.

Step One: Expose them.

Step Two: face trumped up charges for exposing them.

Step Three: Hide in an embassy under asylum. If you fail to reach Step 3, go directly to jail.

Step Four: Watch as your efforts to expose them ultimately amount to nothing because people remain uncaring and ignorant. Governments realize this and eventually stop considering you so much of a threat.
