The review staff at ThinkComputers have a couple sticks of G.SKILL Ripjaws V DDR4-3200 on the test bench today.

Now that we have DDR4 on the mainstream Z170 chipset G.SKILL comes back with Ripjaws V, which are available in quite a few different offerings and offer a more subtle look. G.SKILL is offering their Ripjaws V memory in speeds all the way up to 3600 MHz in both 8GB and 16GB dual channel kits.

I honestly dont see the point.
The difference in performance between similarly rated modules is so miniscule I havent even bothered to read this review.
History of reliability is way more important.

Now if they overclocked somewhat higher...
But they dont.

What is funny is that if you had bothered to read the review you would know they pushed the memory to 4100mhz stable with some looser timings,

lol.
Well thanks for letting me know cos thats the first time I've seen DDR4 get a decent overclock past rated speed.
Kudos to GSkill. Thats an incredible overclock!
Now I'm going to hide in a cupboard.

The graphs are hilarious. Nothing like trying your best to make minuscule differences look far more dramatic.

Why do ram reviews like this still exist? Ram reviews stopped being interesting after DDR.

agreed. my favorite is the sandra cache bandwidth one. one bar is 3x larger than the other. and whatre the numbers? 196.21 gb/sec vs 196.43 gb/sec; a difference of 0.22 gb/sec :p

3Dmark firestrike physics scores? 13665 vs 13684 :p youd get a bigger performance delta just by killing a lot of unnecessary background programs.

and yeah, its RAM. RAM!! who gives a shit anymore. i mean, look at anandtech compare ddr3 to ddr4 in gaming. http://www.anandtech.com/show/8959/...-3200-with-gskill-corsair-adata-and-crucial/8

what a snooze fest.

there is more to it than that if you look beyond ananadtech shit gpu bottlnecked tests
they could be comparing a stock pentium to a 6700k @5ghz and see a similar difference in some of those tests
there is lots of crap ram reviews out there i believe anyone that does review it should compare it to the performance change from increased cpu speed so that people know where the value lies in ram
one of the tests in the op review shows the 3200 gskill performing between 2133 ram and 2666

I bought G.Skill TridentZ at 3200. You might want to check those out, they come into stock once or twice a week. I haven't gotten to try them out yet, waiting for another RMA to be processed.

Here's what I bought but they come in all kinds of sets

Ok it's getting really hard to tell what I'm getting for the extra $10

Is TridentZ just better quality sticks? It seems to sacrifice CAS for MHz

In theory what you are paying for when you buy Gskill Trident Zs or Corsair Dominators is the highest binned chips. There is a higher possibility they will run their rated speed or even be pushed further.

I typically go with what makes sense for the money and then just accept what speeds I can get, but with only a 10$ difference I would do with the Trident Zs

The extra $10 is worth it for looks. I have gskill v ddr4 and compared to them the tridentz sticks are works of art

Ok I got me a couple of TridentZ, they actually go great with my Asus Maximus VIII Gene
