On Tuesday, Microsoft Corp. began the worldwide release of Office 2016. The apps are the latest addition to Office 365, Microsoft’s cloud-based subscription service that helps people do their best work, together. The company also announced new and enhanced Office 365 services built for team productivity.

“The way people work has changed dramatically, and that’s why Microsoft is focused on reinventing productivity and business processes for the mobile-first, cloud-first world,” said Satya Nadella, chief executive officer of Microsoft. “These latest innovations take another big step forward in transforming Office from a familiar set of individual productivity apps to a connected set of apps and services designed for modern working, collaboration and teamwork.”

Nadella wrote about the new Office on the Official Microsoft Blog. Kirk Koenigsbauer, corporate vice president for the Office Client Applications and Services team, provided more insights about Office 2016 on the Office Blog.

Installed. Outlook now crashes out 10 sec after launch.

And the troubleshooting begins LOL

How to get one month for free:

Sign up, and when done go turn off automatic renewals.

The next time you log in you'll be offered 1 month free if you turn auto renewals back on :)

Personally, I hate auto renewals. Especially with Sirius.

Freaking MS. Love how my start menu use to be All Apps/Office 2013/ and now it's All Apps/Shit all over the place.
But doesn't seem like much has changed tho, will have to dig around. No tech issues so far with upgrade

Office 365 users who download Office 2016 will break there current Skype for business 2015 installs!!! Microsoft has not released even a preview client of 2016 skype for business 365!!!! You will need to uninstall 2016 office and reinstall 2013 office. (you can get some functionality from installing lync 2013 basic client..) this is a horrible release..

Is the default file format the same as 2013? Like does it use .docx, .xlsx, and that kinda junk so that when some total dork-headed person sends something to the rest of the world that uses WPS or Libre instead of some nameless, obscure Microsoft product, their non-ribbon office suites will still open and edit the junk in them?

The Office Open XML formats are completely forwards and backwards compatible among all Office clients on all platforms though all features will not be accessible to all clients and versions.

This made me LOL.

2007 forward uses the x at the end as the default.

The old format which doesn't support a lot of features (XP-2003) doesn't use the x at the end.

This is especially important for huge files that will not work if saved in the old format.
