Is it just me or does that microscopic beamsplitter look like a space invader?

The Utah engineers have developed an ultracompact beamsplitter -- the smallest on record -- for dividing light waves into two separate channels of information. The device brings researchers closer to producing silicon photonic chips that compute and shuttle data with light instead of electrons.

It looks like you need to blow on the cartridge contacts and reinsert it. I can hear the buzzing noise!

When we see all the parts shunk down, it will be clear that Nishikado could see the future. lol

I'll get excited when they make a transistor that works off light. Once you do that then a processor running off light will be possible.

Can't wait for this. We'd finally move way past 6GHz processor bottleneck and heat problems.
