The stupid criminal of the day was busted by an online pizza order. Seriously. I'm not making this up. :D

Highlands County Sheriff's Office investigators say at 3:40 p.m. on Monday, May 4th, an online pizza order, for a small hand-tossed classic pizza with pepperoni, was received by the Pizza Hut in Avon Park. Under the comments section there was a message asking them to send help and call 911 as the customer was being held hostage.

Actually this was an extremely intelligent way to get help ... if she had called the police obviously he might have attacked and killed her ... thinking she was ordering a pizza threw him off his guard where she could request the help she needed in subtle ways ... it was good that the dispatcher was paying attention so that he could figure it out

I have a rather harsh opinion on false imprisonment, I feel it should be a capital punishment offense.

Well, it's a lesser form of kidnapping which is the Felony version. In other words, they went easy on him.

"Upon arrival at the home, deputies were greeted by Cheryl Treadway who was carrying a small child in her arms. She told deputies that her boyfriend, Ethan Nickerson, was in the home armed with a knife and that her other two children were also in the home with him. After she was escorted to safety, deputies approached the home."

This feller is clearly not a professional hostage-taker.

Sure he is, she just didnt play by the rules. How was he supposed to know the trailer court got the internets installed?

Before we declare her a hero though, what kind of woman would let a guy like this around her children in the first place:

I don't care how lonely and horny you are:
1) Why weren't you choosy in the first place and pick a man you wanted to stay with to have children, and make an effort for the children's sake?
2) You need to be more cautious around new men before bringing them home to your kids, or even INTRODUCING them to your kids as that's confusing to them, so get a baby sitter and handle your booty calls elsewhere until you build a trust relationship to put the guy in the child's lives.

Which is also stupid that courts give default custody to the woman and its almost impossible for the husband to win custody, when its shown that more than any other factor, single moms produce kids with problems and more often than not a criminal history and fathers are typically better able to financially support children than mothers. We have plenty of studies on this.

Ok, Dr Phil :)

I was thinking more Keith Ablow, but incompetence is incompetence. Fair call.

No, incompetence is letting a guy like this anywhere near your kids.
If you have kids, then put them first. Have some self control.
Of course having 3 kids and no father around likely means she doesn't have any to start with.

I guess you can say the same thing about vicious dogs or other unpredictable things, because changing the subject from the actual problem of some crazy guy threatening violence and holding people hostage is obviously easier than addressing it. Calling out "victim blaming" is overused, but it's appropriate here.

She ordered it on her cell phone. The guy took it from her, but let her have it back just to order a pizza (with the app or with the website I'm not sure) and she left in the special instructions field to send 911 and that she was being held hostage. He took the phone back from her after the order was placed.

No one calls for pizza anymore. I haven't in 8 years. One time I tried to order pizza but their site was down so I ordered from a different company.

It took me 10 years of my daughter's mother being abusive in very well documented ways for me to get custody. That's fucked up. Do I get child support? Of course not. When I was non-custodial did I pay child support.................. Yes. 60% of my income.

Women get lonely, and they also feel a sense of entitlement. Remember, the minute they hit puberty, guys fall all over them every second of the day. When they have a litter of kids, that kind of stops, and they well, go sort of through love withdrawal. So they jump at whoever gives them the tiniest bit of affection. Remember, these teen moms aren't all that bright to begin with; their main appeal is their young, hot bodies, (and frankly, most of us can't resist) so it' probably pretty easy for a young 'bad boy' to get her hooked on him.

Wow... So enlightening...
