Adding 'Smellovision' To Virtual Reality

When is the last time you played a game and thought "I wish I could smell that?"

But some optimistic folks at a company called Feelreal think that not only has VR arrived, it's advanced enough that users are ready for weather and scents, courtesy of a programmable battery-powered Bluetooth mask that fits underneath your headset.

Given the number of games I play where long dead bodies are commonplace? Not so much.

They really need to rebrand smellovision. That name renders it eternally hokey.
 
No. Bad idea. Anyone remember the Infocom Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (think that was the right game)? It came with scratch n sniff stickers. They talked about how they could have really abused these but ended up not doing it. I think the one was in a bathroom - it turned out to be pizza.
No porn. No way. Ugh.

That may be the only way some guys will ever smell pussy or bitches or some other pet :D:D
 
We can all make fun of it, but the olfactory sense is a big part of believing the environment. If done right, this will likely lead to a good amount of immersion and tricking the brain into believing.

People put a lot of weight into the hearing and sight senses, but there's three more.
