If you live in Europe and were looking forward to the end of roaming charges on the continent by the end of the year, you're going to have look a little further ahead for those roaming charges to go away. Telecom ministers did an about-face this week on the proposed plan to give the proposal time for further study.

According to the draft text on new EU rules for telecom providers seen by your correspondent, national representatives now argue that “a transitional period is needed to allow roaming providers to adapt to wholesale market conditions”.
 
They just wanted more time to count all of the cash they got from the lobbyists before they shelve it for good.
 
Shit, I thought they voted for it and it was a done deal. Sleazy mofos. Regulators on a national level simply do not work. Not in this business.
