It looks like everyone is jumping on the VR bandwagon these days. At least Samsung is actually partnering with Oculus to do it.

The only information on availability is "this year," and there is no price just yet; it'll be available for purchase online and through "select carriers." Considering how low-tech Gear VR is, and the fact that Samsung's pushing a product into a market that doesn't really exist just yet, I expect the company will aim as low as possible in terms of pricing.
 
Saw this coming a long time ago.
High end smart phone contain much of the tech already for VR.
Hi-def display, accelerometer, wireless, etc.
Google makes a cardboard widget to put a Nexus 5 in to do much of the same thing; not as slick as the Samsung VR though.
 
To be fair Samsung is already partnering with Oculus as they are the suppliers of the displays used in the devkits.

Yeah, it's literally the front half of a Galaxy Note 3.
 
So how long now before Apple comes out with a VR headset? If they do, then MS will have to copy them.
