While TIGA is a non-profit trade association focused on representing the UK's games industry, there is a lot of information that can be gleaned from its recently published 51 page PDF entitled, The Sources of Funding: The Sinews of Business that should be handy for just about any fledgling game developers anywhere in the world.

The survey reveals a UK games sector that is still transitioning from a dependency on publisher and other client funding towards self-sufficiency. As TIGA’s annual reports have demonstrated, the UK has experienced unprecedented levels of new games development start-ups in the last few years.

Because what the world needs is moar video games. Seriously though, what do we do with the thousands of people graduating out of game development colleges?

I'd say this is exactly what is needed. Game devs who are not controlled by publishers is a very good thing if for no other other reason than they wont be pressured into producing the same old bile that tries to hit every genre/market that publishers try to ram down people's throats.
