Microsoft Files Patent for Multitouch Game Controller

Microsoft has filed a patent for what looks to be a standardized layout of mobile touchscreen gaming controls in the style of a console, namely the Xbox.

Prior art, 2011, M$, lobbyism, downfall of the US, what's left?

I would love to know how much hookers and blow Apple, Microsoft and a few others are handing out these days. This should not even be considered for a patent. A: as mentioned about prior art, B: it is not and invention. It could and should be handled under copyright - shapes and layouts are copyrightable. Hell code is normally under copyright except for when the idiots in the USPTO are snowed or bribed into believing otherwise. ARRGGHHH!!

Sorry been in software development for 25+ years and it drives me nuts. Back in the late 80s and early 90s they allowed a bunch of crappy look and feel patents that were ridiculous. At one point Sierra had a patent on point and click adventures. NOT the under the hood method but the visual result.

Well, this is what they've been doing with "Xbox Glass" for a couple years now, so it makes sense that they'd patent it...
