Sometimes being the biggest is not always the best and the FCC has taken the relative sizes of the wireless carriers in consideration on next year’s spectrum auction.

Sprint Corp and T-Mobile USA Inc had urged the FCC to ensure their two biggest rivals did not dominate the auction. FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler had agreed, saying last month that Verizon and AT&T already controlled almost two-thirds of the coveted low-frequency airwaves.

Isn't Sprint somewhat restricted as well because of the amount of 2.5Ghz spectrum they own?

Who the FK are they kidding. ATT and Verizon will just go BUY the little companies you lease to in your silly attempt to stop our Corporate Overlords from owning everything, including the air.... waves.:eek::cool:

This auction is just a front for the sale of the airwaves to only Verizon and AT&T. Them two have unlimited funds to buy as much airspace as they want. We are fucked because they will charge even more for their plans and not even use up them airwaves. They will buy them to keep others from being able to use them.

I suspect this is exactly what will happen, T-mobile and Sprint will be completely outbid by tiny regional carriers who are magically able to bid more than the value of their entire company.

Followed by news a month later about at&t/Verizon buying-up a bunch of regional carriers.
