Well, Happy Birthday you little Dickens. It really doesn’t seem like it’s already been two years since the frenzied release of the Raspberry Pi ‘B’ and now the little computer that could is looking to broaden its horizons even further.

"As an incentive to do this work, we will pay a bounty of $10,000 to the first person to demonstrate to us satisfactorily that they can successfully run Quake III at a playable framerate on Raspberry Pi using these drivers."
 
Strangely enough, the GPU on the Pi is the most powerful component on-board, yet it also has the least support and holds back the unit (when running a GUI) more than anything else.

Omxplayer, at least to my knowledge, is the only audio/video program which can take full advantage of the VideoCore IV GPU.
Anything else does not utilize the GPU at all and will make the poor CPU work much harder than it normally has to.

I look forward to seeing how this progresses!
